How to get out of a funk
Jump to: Newest in thread
Love life is in the toilet (fellas only want me for what I do, not who I am). Fallen out with friends after I defended another (work related). Saturday, a neighbor threatened me, smacked my phone from my hand whilst filming and keyed my car (police involved).
I'm a tough broad but feeling pretty damn emotional at the moment.

on the road to nowhere in particular |
I got double teamed by family this weekend one starting an argument and the other using it as an excuse to have a go at me. When I finally stormed out of the room I’m told I have anger management issues. PERHAPS IF YOU HADN’T SPENT HALF THE EVENING TRYING TO PISS ME OFF I WOULD NOT HAVE ANGER ISSUES! |

You’re not in a funk, you’ve got a lot of shit going on. Let yourself be emotional about it, it’s better than bottling it up x you’ve identified that men are after you for the wrong reason... don’t let those ones in - there’ll be someone there who appreciates who you are, just wait and don’t sell yourself short.
I usually find a disagreement with friends is easily solved with a conversation and/or a few drinks, good friends often fall out. If they can’t take you defending someone and voicing your opinion, maybe they weren’t as good friends as they seemed to be...
With the neighbours as well you sound like you’ve got it on all fronts at the moment, go easy on yourself xx

I can sympathise op, in a bit if one myself. Having ex troubles and got the police involved now. Be kind to yourself, treat yourself to something decadent and take time to get past this. Sending hugs x |

Some times helps to step away from everything and everyone . Maybe a few day away, different town , even different country, helps and resets things and your frame of mind.
I really hope things get better for you soon |

Good friends will always come round in the end. Give them a little time and ask to clear the air?
The Police thing was the right thing to do and it must feel horrid when you have to live next door to someone there is an open issue with. I wonder would it be worth moving. (I know you shouldn’t have to but for peace of mind) it’s horrible falling out with neighbors and feeling uneasy going in the street etc. I wish you well.
The men thing and this is the controversial bit. You seem to be very down on men all the time (green arrow and my crazy memory) perhaps look inward and subjectively on this.
Treat yourself to a break away somewhere different.

Got anyone you can call and scream at?
I have, I call him up and tell him I need to vent. He gets coffee, listens to me effing and blinding, verbally nods occasionally and hangs up. Makes me feel awesome.
How do you feel at the moment? Would crying help? A bit of ‘it’s not fair’! Calling everybody a cunt? |

"I get really fucked up, go on mad one and lose a couple of days.
Tends to sort me out. "
I did that the weekend before last in Brum! Whilst it was good to let off steam, I'm not sure that my liver has forgiven me yet |

Sounds a bit happy clapping, but write a list if all the good stuff you have to be grateful for ie roof over your head, money in the bank, pet gerbil, whatever.
Concentrate on the positives rather than focussing on the negatives.
Yes shit things happen but so do a hell of a lot of good things we just take for granted.
Change your focus .
Hug of support

Slough Windsor ish |
I go for a good stompy walk.
Then come home, meditate/chant and clear my head ready to start again positively. I take each negative thing and turn it around to positive or disown it. No room for negativity in my life.
After all that I tell myself "I'm strong and will beat this", I do something nice for myself, this could be something as simple as a nice hot shower after my walk or painting my nails or listening to some favourite music in the car.
After all that, I go do something nice/kind for somebody else... Buy a cup of tea for the homeless guy at at station, help a neighbour with their shopping, even just complimenting a colleague on their weightloss or how they are dressed.
Just end it all with lots of smiles.
Be kind to yourself always. |

That's great advice, especially about the friends. |

For the record, I'm not down on men all the time. All my friends are men. I love men. I may generalise on the behavior of some but I'm a sex worker as well as swinger. There's only so much entitlement, arrogance and dick pics a girl can take before feeling dispondent. |

And thank you all for the good advice.
I tried getting out of it and got blasted all weekend. Have cried a river and tried to talk to mates about it but as my pals are men, they're not the best listeners.
Think I'm going to take myself on a holiday to Morocco to clear my head a bit |

You’re not in a funk, you’ve got a lot of shit going on.
"
Yea, I went to the Doctor and asked for some talking therapy once, 'cos I ticked all the boxes for clinical depression. At the end of 6 sessions the therapist said 'God if I had all the shit you've got going on, I'D be depressed!!'
Sounds like you need to take a few days out of life, get away maybe, go on a retreat? |
