Was out shopping yesterday.. and got chatting to a random lady at a charity book stall. We chatted for about 15 mins and after she said thanks. So many people just stand and don't talk these days.
Now I've not really noticed this that much as I talk to anyone anywhere lol but is it a dying thing
Do you chat to ransom people |

"I'm doing it more and more lately. I used to be quite shy when I was younger. Now I will chat to anyone, you hear some interesting stories sometimes." don't you just. Although last time I was on the train I got talking to the lady sat next to me..and somehow got on to how I used to be a therapist. She then told me every single issue she needed help with |

The town I live in it’s practically the norm to have small talk with strangers!
I’m always doing it, in the supermarkets, when I’m shopping in town etc. When I go to another city and it’s not the same, it feels really strange! |

I block the exits until I have finished my conversation, I handcuff them to a table if there is a table handy
Or sometimes I reply in Spanish or Swedish and run away cos I am busy |

Haha, yes you do get that side some times too.
But I've had an old guy telling me about being shot down over Germany and being a German POW, another old guy telling me about working in the docks in the 50s, a woman telling me about minding 11dogs in a one bedroom flat (!!)and another old guy who used to be a trapeze/wall of death guy at the circus, he was fantastic, could have listened to him all day. |

I do speak with strangers, especially the elderly...no harm in saying "Good morning/afternoon" if they make eye contact.
Had a great conversation with a couple a few weeks ago - my younger bro and I were smoking cigars while strolling in the local park and discussing life-memories of the things we did as little kids in the park. A couple approached us and made a joke about the "boardroom deal and celebratory cigars post deal"....we ended up having a full blown chat that lasted an hour!

"All the time. Even ones who don't want to talk to me.
I like to think I brighten their day a little."
How is it going over at the Jehovahs witnesses these days?

"I don't like it . I usually find that they have seen my uniform and want to tell me all of their problems " funny if someone is in uniform I tend to not do it unless they make eye contact as I assume they won't want hassling x |

I find as I’m getting older I initiate conversations more. Youngsters struggle to join in or think you’re trying to hit on them. Have you noticed how a lot of people don’t look at your face when talking. Try it. Look at someone directly in the eyes. Most people will look away after a few seconds. |

If a lady makes eye contact with me(I know very sexist! ,I always smile, and if they smile back,I'll initiate a conversation if it's appropriate to the time and place! |

Same here. I've had some wonderful conversations with some seriously interesting people. Some have hilarious stories, some sad. One guy was so full of history that I informed him it would be a crime for him not to document it somehow. People just seem to open up to me. I've had many strangers say I've never told anyone that before. I had people at work who would regularly come in just to chat with me. I wouldn't change it. Especially with elderly folk. It makes their day. And mine some days when I've had a rough time.
I often compliment random strangers too. My kids think I'm a weirdo for it |

I do because of my job, customers come in and chat and it’s lovely. I can usually start a conversation up
with the most miserable of people.
But I think in this day and age some folks can’t be arsed to be friendly x |

"Yeah, I like sitting on a bench in town and annoying old ladies "
You are missing a trick there, rather than a bench in town, buy a day rider ticket and use the aisle seat on the bus, that way they are trapped at least until the next stop |

Its a shame that people dont talk to each other in London on the tube or buses as it would help to pass time on your journey rather than sitting there in silence!
I enjoy chatting to random strangers at the bus stop, had a debate about brexit with a woman recently although cant remember how that conversation started! |
