I got a Merino coil fitted which releases localised progesterone. Stops any menstruation and menopause symptoms. My older sister sailed through her menopause with it and it is working very well for me now too. I don't get hot flushes and have a ready for play vagina all year round, although I do get a bit bloated in my ghost period time, it is better than the alternative. |

Unfortunately the merana coil doesn't work for a majority of woman! You and your sister have been very lucky.
Op, you are probably better off discussing your options with your gp. What works for one doesn't always work for another, trial and error.
My gp is trying to tell me I'm pre menopausal because my periods are all over the place, the last one lasted 3 weeks. I have no other symptoms. |

Can recommend bio-identical hormones; oestrogen - evovle or estradot patches + progestore capsules -utrogestan. Also try a good progestrone creme to start with, progesterall or my favourite Ona's natural (both can be found online)
Your GP wouldn't know the differences between bio-identical and others only specialist interested in female hormone balance, but you can get the above mentioned on prescription. |

I put up with the eratic periods as thats all the symptoms i had...
Have to say i sailed through the whole thing..mine started when i was 40 and is now all over.. my sex drive went into overdrive once the menopause finally kicked in although i am fully aware not everyone has it so easy

I tried replens once. I didn't like it. Everyone's different though so its worth giving it a go |

I've tried replens, its ok but if you're sexual i don't think it'll be nice as its a white cream |

I have a mirena coil fitted, started to get sleepless nights, hot flushes and night sweats. It's making me tired and irritable too. Another symptom I've been having are migraines when my period is due. GP has given me sumatriptan for this, but not keen on taking it as it knocks me out. Going to see if I can get a GP appointment today as its really making me feel down. |

Hot flushes, night sweats, sleepless nights. Migraine when due to start my period; Sumatriptam helps me.
My libido fluctuates. Am waiting for a gynaecology appointment to request a hysterectomy due to very heavy & painful periods |

"Had a mirena, never had one single symptom, not one."
I was told that by having one fitted it would lessen the symptoms and that 2x5 year ones should see me through menopause. This is 1st one which was fitted 3 1/2 years ago. Glad you had no symptoms x |

This year my periods stopped and the hot flushes started also the night sweats and the waking up every few hours , plus the depression and libido going down , can’t believe how bad it all is no one ever tells you about the change but when it happens it knocks you for six . I went to my gp to get hrt because I can’t stand feeling like this any longer , because I’m under 52 and it’s only been 6 months since I had a period I have to go on a hrt that you take for 28 days then you have a bleed , which isn’t ideal but if it gets rid of those symptoms I’m having it should be worth it . I haven’t started taking it yet because we are going on holiday soon and I don’t want a period while we are away . |

I used a Mirena Coil from the age of 40, had the last one removed over 2 years ago, never had a new on fitted as I hated it so much. Haven’t had a period since so according to the practice nurse I’m in menopause.
Probably going to jinx myself now but so far so good symptom wise.
I get very hot but no flushes, I’m more tired and get stressed quite quickly too, and I don’t sleep well however that’s nothing really new, haven’t spelt well since having kids!
Sex drive has diminished a tad but it’s a problem for me. Losing weight is hard going though, that’s my major bug bear currently.
HRT has been mentioned but so far I’m just rolling with it. |

I am peri menopausaul.
Symptoms started to include hot flushes and a bit emotional ie..my tolerance to trying people lessened. My periods became irregular. So I am now using the HRT patches which are working well. |

Two years ago my periods became irregular and I was getting hot flushes. I thought I was peri menopausal. Ever went to the doctors to get it checked though. Turns out I actually had ovarian cancer. I didn’t know until I grew a cyst the size of a newborn in the space of a month! I’m had it removed and then needed a hysterectomy. I’m only 41. Got the all clear last Friday but will need check ups for the next five years. So if you think you might be going into menopause PLEASE see your gp for a blood test to make sure. Don’t make the same mistake I did or you might end up like me, or worse. Now I’ve been thrown into early menopause and have just started hrt for my night sweats but as it takes a few weeks to take effect I’m still suffering for now. But I’ll take the sweats over cancer anytime!!

I was taking black cohosh for my night sweats but they stopped working. I’m on hrt now but they need the dose upped as the sweats have come back. My periods are a bit erratic, and I’m tired all the time. Luckily my libido is still high x |

Thete are lots of herbal remedies for the symptoms of menopause
I have heard good things about maca root which you can get in powder form in Aldi, just stir into coffee
And other things that I’m not sure about but inagine you can find on amazon like Ashwaganda
Look up Dr Berg and Dr Axe on YouTube- they have interesting informative videos
BBC also recently did an interesting show on the menopause, haven’t watched it but it might be on iplayer
Hope this is helpful |

I had a total hysterectomy 7 weeks ago & my HRT was stopped until I see consultant next week. It’s been interesting!!! I’m more bothered about losing all the weight gained from being pumped full of drugs & hormones for nearly 3 years than any hot flushes etc... |

"OK, so a quick update. I've seen my GP this morning, he's prescribed estrogen only tablets which I can pick up in a couple of days. Glad I finally went. "
Glad to hear it...just doing something towards a solution can be great emotionally x |

I know that now, was difficult to work out what some of the symptoms were for as some were the same as an underactive thyroid which I also have. |

I had surgical menopause, use hrt.
It keeps 90% of symptoms at bay, libido is assisted occasionally by THC. |

I'm peri menopausal but because I have a brain tumour, I'm not allowed to take anything for my symptoms, not even herbal. My prescription was a Fan!!
I'm very tired all the time, have hot flushes and my weight gain has been ridiculous. For me, it's a bloody awful time of life on top of a myriad of other health issues I'm having to cope with. I feel like I'm in the wilderness right now with no help.
But, there are treatments out there that can help Op. You would need to see your GP. |

HRT took it for a few years when the premenopausal symptoms were really bad, when I stopped taking it the symptoms didn’t reappear I still haven’t had the menopause yet, but HRT certainly helped me through that time xx |
