The forums always ebb and flow, as do the forumites - it does seem to be in a bit of an ebb period lately but I put that down to school holidays as much as anything

Nah, they’ve always been like this! The forum is typically very cyclical: hang around long enough and it’s Groundhog Day, the same topics and interactions and reactions in rotation.

Some come around more often than others, but in the end you’ll soon recognise you’ve seen it all before!

I don’t have any family, I live in a yurt in the Shire, my only company is a squirrel that wears a little waist coat. There’s no WiFi here but you won’t find a better connection. Thanks for reminding me about my family.

It's not too bad at the minute. A couple of years ago it got really really toxic, as said above it was a bit in cestuous, and there was loads of white knighting and lamp post pissing. There were a lot of contrary characters who were just argumentative, contrary, abusive bullies.

The forums always ebb and flow. It also depends on your state of mind. Sometimes they can get a little a repetitive. That's when I usually take a step away from them. I do think they were better when I initially joined, nearly 6 years ago and there are faces that I miss seeing. But that's just based on my own personal experience and because the forums were all shiny and new for me back then

Summer is a strange time in the forum - lots away and people having many alternative choices for their attention. Some are lower, after returning from holiday, so it affects the vibe. Too much money spent does the same.

There is no constant forum output and enjoyment level - it's variable and affected by the world out there

What part of stonewall didn’t you understand, I’ve been a builder since I was 19. It’s stonework both sides so it takes time and it’s capped off with Cock and Hen, in some places it’s called Buck and Doe. The time consuming part is dressing the stone so it fits like a jigsaw, I aim to do 3 square metres a day both sides.

At the moment I find there are a few regular posters trying to be the king of the forum and they aren't aware of how tedious and unoriginal they are and that most forumites have seen their sort come and go and be quickly forgotten many times before... Never been a fan of empty vessels.

That said the summer holidays are always an ebb on the forum

Over the past seven years I’ve been a regular on the forums . They go up and down , and I have to agree that at the moment and for the past few months they have been about as exciting as dishwater .

But having said that , that’s how we feel about swinging and have done from a few months now , so perhaps that’s a bit unfair on the forum .
