Feeling pleased with myself

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

3 months ago I started a journey to get myself back in shape. This evening I got an intermediate assessment at the gym:

Weight - lost 3st 4lbs.

Body fat - lost 9%

Muscle mass - increased 12%

Fitness score - Gone from 62/100 to 89/100

I’m also down nearly 5 jeans sizes as well. I’m feeling so much better about things.

Well I’m chuffed with myself.

Well I’ve hit my target weight. I’ve gone from a size XXL tshirt to a M. I’ve got from a 44” waist to a 32 and people are telling me I now look “buff”

It’s been a tough journey but I’m happy with myself.

Now let’s see if I can just keep it up.

I cut out all junk food, ensured I ate loads of veg with every meal, reduced fat meat or cut the fat off before cooking it.

At the gym 4 times a week where I was doing weight, spin classes and circuits. Even got a personal trainer for a month to boost me a little.

Ensure I was drinking at least 3litres of water every day, even though it made me pee like a racehorse.

Kept a bowl of fruit on my desk at work and snacked on that whenever I felt like a snack

Cut out all beer and switched to diet juice as the mixers.

Took me about 6 months to lose nearly 5st. I still have a bit of a body image problem where I think I look fat but apparently that’s normal until I get used to things.

I'm sure that'll pass and you'll realise you look great! What an achievement in 6 months!

Thanks. I look in the mirror and still see my old chubby self but it means a lot when people tell me and when I see the jeans sizes drop, it kinda reaffirms things.

My confidence has been boosted too and I may even go swimming on my holiday next month

I'm trying to lose about a stone but seem to have hit a plateau

I guess it's extra work in the gym and more ruthless with my diet... damned addictive crisps

I’m sure you can do it again mate. I didn’t think I could ever do it. It just took willpower and focus.
