Does anyone have any tips for not getting a shaving rash? My hair grows at an alarming rate and no matter what I’ve tried my bikini line always gets rashy. Any miracle lotions/potion anyone wold recommend? |

The best thing I've ever used is Shave Butter from DSC. I cut myself less (I'm dangerous with a razor) & it minimises redness & itchies. Use a scrub the day before & rinse with cool water after shaving |

Shaving soap is best it’s only 50p and will last for months, use it with a shaving brush too and a decent quality razor. The more frequently you shave the less chance of any rash as the skin gets used to it |

I've heard that talcum powder works very well. Not tried it myself but might be worth a go.
Also, shaving repeatedly over the same places makes rashes a lot worse. |

I use a Gillette Mach 3 and shaving gel or conditioner, I go with the grain to start with then go against the grain once its all removed for any remaining, ie shave down so as not to disturb the skin. Going against the grain will cause the hairs to pull against the skin underneath and causes minute tears in the skin at the root, that's why rashes form, it's trying to heal and grow back at the same time.
Then I use baby oil or a body butter all over to keep the skin soft for a couple of days, I shave again a couple of days later to minimise effect of first shave, hairs are smaller and don't tear the skin.
More you do this the more skin will get used to it and no rash occurs.
Hope this helps xx |
