Party excuses

London

We're having a party tonight and I thought it would help deal with organising stress to list the excuses people who were going to turn up are now giving.

So far we have had two sudden onsets of flu and one family unexpectedly turning up (I mean, in the days of multiple means of instant communication, whose family turns up unexpectedly?)

By the way, if there are any nice people in London not feeling a bit peaky and who don't have inconsiderate relatives, message us and you might get an invite.

Finding more and more people have little consideration or manners

Hope your party goes well

Still plenty of time for the babysitter to cancel or the guinea pig needing to go to the emergency vets!

Hope you get some people turning up, parties are notoriously difficult to arrange due to all the last minute cancellations.

Some ideas sound exciting at the time but as they get closer the idea is not as appealing.

I had a day out with friends yesterday. Only 4 of 10 turned up. The weather was a big factor but a couple of illnesses also. It happens.

My Family will always turn up unexpectedly, I think it's rude, and it has caused many arguements over the years, now I Bite my tongue when they do turn up.

Spoils the moment And previously made plans.

I do hope the party goes with a swing though

Have fun

What, they just turn up at your door with no prior notice?

My mother is the worst for turning up unexpectedly and letting herself in!

Mine.

I have an Uncle that turns up unannounced regularly. Usually at the most inopportune times.

It's really bad isn't it, I have argued so much over this in my adult life

Central

A timely reminder to get the flu jab, which will be available very soon for this season. Was it Manflu op?

It's atrocious how many people don't seem to have much of a handle on their lives, judging by the volume of people who get the no shows and flimsy excuses.

We need a checklist of possible failure and crisis points for selection of guests -

Pets

Vaccinations meets have had

Allergies

Neighbours or family at risk of serious illness or death

Car servicing history

Alternative transport plans

Level of having their sh#t together

I'm sure others can add more

Didn't get an invite first time round so not being your back up guests. It's a shame, think of the arguments we could have had.

Grandma died.

Dog ate a chicken.

Wife got period.

At least one no show with no explanation.

That's the worst part isn't it. People say yes then come with feeble excuses.

Why don't they just say no in the first place.

I haven't organised a party yet but I'm going to be very soon. Whether I'm brave or stupid remains to be seen.

I hope that you do have a great night anyway.

We were invited to a small party by a couple, along with two other couples, one local and the other from the Midlands.

The local couple cried off about 4 hours with a throat infection for one of them. The Midlands couple who were the catalyst for the party, the man apparently badly injured his ankle getting off the ferry, gang planks were dispensed of years ago

Up to that day, us and hosts still managed to have the funniest meet going and some playtime that was great fun too.

Funnily enough, I stumbled upon the Midlands couple recently and he's injured himself again, must be some kind of crash test dummy.

Might irritate them if we stopped mid flow and said "capitalism... gave you... this bed"

There is a bad dose of the scitter going around.

Like to be fair you wont want to be in the bed with someone with scitter.
