I have asked this before but re-visiting it after a conversation with a friend today.
Are there any Gentlemen on Fab?
If there are, what in your book is gentlemanly behaviour?
This thread is by no means meant to offend anyone |

I have gentlemanly traits I believe.
Until I'm encouraged to be otherwise |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
To me gentlemanly behaviour is someone who takes a womans arm when she rises from a chair. Stands up when she enters a room. Stands if she leaves the table and stands when she returns. Asks before removing his jacket. Takes his pace when eating and always finishes his meal at the same time never before.
Thats exactly what i would expect from the guys that repeatdly tell me they are a gentleman however as ive got one of those at home all im looking for on here is decent respectful guys |

This was brought up recently, different people have different ideas of what the term means.
Some of it is rooted in rather archaic concepts which don’t really apply in modern society so it’s difficult to say yes or no.
I do think that there are kind and respectful men out there that treat others with a degree of chivalry though. |

To me a gentleman is someone who is respectful and considerate. They don't necessarily have to open doors or stand up etc to be a gentleman in my book.
So yes there are gentlemen on fab as there is in all walks of life |

Consideration.
There's lots of traditional ways to show it but it's really just about anticipating a person's needs and showing respect imo |

Yes there definitely are quite a few on here.
A 'perfect gentleman' in my book is a man who dresses smartly, treats me with the upmost respect when in public, talks to me nicely, happy to buy me a drink (though I do always buy one in return) but then who can be very naughty, kinky and adventurous behind closed doors.
I know it's a cliche, but treat me like a princess, fuck me like a porn star springs to mind.
I'm lucky that I have a few gents as good friends/FB/FWB's |

Always have a cape on hand so the lady doesn't get dirty puddle water on her silk shoes.
Have been known to get on all fours so the lady has no ungainly step from her carriage when the doorman doesn't turn up. I will thrash that blaggart later. Probably stealing from the wine cellar again.
I have definitely given some lowlife scallywags a good beating for getting close to my lady escorts finest dress.
I once got grandmama to pay off the scullery maid after I accidentally fell over and buggered her.
I also have a batman to let desirable young fillies know of my base intentions towards her personage. |

1. A gentleman never tells
No gossiping, spreading rumours or running others down – a real gent always protects the integrity of both himself and people around him.
2. A gentleman knows that anything worth having is worth working hard for
Shortcuts and free rides have no place in a gentleman’s world. You only get what you give, and rightly so.
3. A gentleman knows how to dance
Two left feet is never, ever a good look, and a real gentleman knows it. Learning to dance well is also not that hard.
4. If a woman comes with baggage, a gentleman helps her to unpack it
Being genuinely helpful and non-judgemental is a trait that gets a man far.
5. A gentleman always RSVPs
It’s more than simple courtesy. If there are pending inv_tations, being thoughtful and responding is only the fair thing to do.
6. A gentleman knows the difference between confidence and arrogance
No one likes to deal with egotists and show-offs. A bit of self-confidence, on the other hand, makes a man come across as strong and admirable. Keep it respectful – 77% of females find ‘laddish’ behaviour to be the most unattractive trait of a gentleman.
7. A gentleman is open-minded but firm in his beliefs
Principles are always held onto and respected, whether they’re his own or others’. In fact more men than women think a gentleman should be supportive of feminism.
8. A gentleman constantly proves that chivalry is not dead
Rather than something that can be turned on and off on a whim, a gentleman accepts that chivalry is more of a way of life. 2 in 3 people have told Gentleman’s Journal that chivalry is still a very important trait of a gentleman.
9. A gentleman ruins his lover’s lipstick, not her mascara
The only tears he should make her cry are those of joy.
10. A gentleman never lies to a woman (unless it’s to surprise her)
A true gent makes it a point to always stay loyal, faithful and honest to his significant other.
11. A gentleman always makes the first move
And his pick-up lines tend to stand out from the rest. If lucky enough to get a first date, dress appropriately. 70% of women prefer men to dress smart-casual on a first date.
12. A gentleman means what he says and says what he means
No doublespeak, no having to read between the lines – a gentleman is open about his thoughts and feelings all the time.
13. For a lady, a gentleman always offers his seat and opens the door
It’s not a sign that she’s in any way weak; rather, it’s a time-honoured gentlemanly gesture of care and affection.
14. A gentleman never judges
He knows that judging a person does not define who they are, it defines who he is.
15. A gentleman is always well-presented
No matter what company, occasion or top-secret mission.
16. A gentleman has a firm handshake and always makes eye contact
Weak grips and averting gazes are huge no-no’s when one gentleman meets another.
17. A gentleman always offers his coat to a lady
One of the oldest moves in the gentleman’s playbook, sacrificing one’s comfort for that of a lady projects both attentiveness and selflessness.
18. A gentleman knows how to cook
Being able to prepare one good, full meal should be the bare minimum.
19. A gentleman always walks a woman home
Few things show her that you care more than making sure she’s always home safe and sound.
20. A gentleman always offers to pay
I’ve got this” – one of the most important phrases in the gentleman lexicon. A gentleman should not worry about the price too much either, 1 in 2 women do not care about how much a gentleman spends on a first days. |

I like a traditional gent. The type that’s walks on the outside of you next to roads, opens doors, carries your bags, lends you is jacket, is presentable but he also has excellent manners and is respectful, attentive, interested. It might sound old fashioned to some but that’s what I like |

Oh boy... I get SOOO sick of threads like this because women can be dicks too. Of course there are gentlemen about, I am one (pissed off) because certain WOMEN are unreliable, selfish, egocentric and juvenile. To say there are no gentlemen is like saying there are no nurses or apples or anything. Women who let players use them are the ones who never look past the sparkly exterior and see the substance below. Rant over....

No,
Gentleman behaviour is no longer acceptable... It is now unaceptable to send women through doorways ahead of you in case there is danger inside. And carrying women over muddy puddles is sexual assault. |

"I’m always suspicious of a man who says he’s a gentlemen. Just treat everyone with equal respect and don’t be a cunt.
A man who uses the word c**t is not a gentleman. Gentlemen or men with so called respect do NOT swear or use words that are derogative towards females....
I’m suspicious of people who don’t swear. I know a lot of women who love that word, in fact there’s quite a few on here who have said it’s their Favorite word.
I’m suspicious of men who use the word c**t. The thread wasn’t about what Fab woman think of the word c**t so if we can get back to my original topic I would really appreciate that Mr Impala..... "
Get off your high horse lady, so your suspicious of pretty much every man in the country, because I don’t know a man who doesn’t use it when blokes are together talking to each other.

"Oh boy... Rant over....
um.. yes... that should do it!
Can open... Worms everywhere...."
You sound cross.
I don’t believe anyone said there wasn’t any gentleman left. |

In the real world I treat everyone with respect, the way I’d like to be treated myself, regardless of sex. Unless they do something where they don’t deserve any. I dont think that makes me a gentlemen, it’s what everyone should do anyway. This gentlemen bollocks makes me cringe, I find it smug and self satisfied. It’s like there is an ulterior motive, something a bit slimy about it. But hey, that just my opinion.
