Depends on the grounds for divorce: adultery doesn't have a minimum, is quicker than irreconcilable differences by agreement (2 years), and irreconcilable differences not by agreement or desertion (5 years).
All of those times plus about 6 months if everyone cooperates |

You can get a decree absolute quote quickly. Then 6 weeks later a decree absolute can be issued. I’m not sure if there’s a 6 month separation rule. I can’t remember when I got divorced 5 years ago. |

She petitioned for divorce, I didn't contest it. Just a case of filling the forms and waiting.
Technically, we did use a legal service for the consent order - for the division of assets. But we didn't have a case to be settled in person in the courts.
Basically, if you agree everything it's a lot quicker. Also, we don't have kids, which also makes it easier. |

I think it boils down to how complicated you make and how much you argue about stuff.
I my case I signed the property over well before proceedings even started. I do not want any financial gain. Yes we have kids together but that is not a part of the actual divorce process. We have that sorted between us.
The more you argue the more it will cost as well |

Five years for me as he didn't want to divorce.
Waited the five years then filed the papers myself. Took about eight weeks after I filed the papers and that long because I sent paperwork to wrong court. Cost me less than £400. |

I divorced my ex husband to marry Shaggy. We had no property or assets to split and no children to arrange custody and access.
I emailed him copies of all the paperwork and got his approval before it was sent to the courts so that there were no nasty surprises. It was all done very amicably.
Our divorce still took 6 months to go through, purely because of how busy the courts were. It was slightly worrying at the time as we had our wedding all booked, my divorce was finalised with just 2 weeks to spare! |

I don’t want an argument or it ever to see the inside of a court room. Since our split we’ve always sorted stuff out face to face. This will be the 1st time a legal situation will arise |

Depends on many factors, how long you’ve been separated, the reason for it, whether it’s contested or not, whether a financial settlement is required, etc etc. Mine took about 7 weeksfrom start go finish and cost me £550 but it was straight forward. |

Well if you let the five years pass then it’s very straight forward, as long as you havn’t lived together during that five year period. You don’t have to give a reason as the reason is that you have been separated for five years. You get the nisi as quickly as your ex will return the signed form and then 6 weeks and a day later you can apply for the absolute which can be issued the day the court receives the request as long as there are no objections during the six week period following the nisi. |

I’m
Just hoping we can avoid that. We never had any real joint finances when married. We rented our home etc. No joint accounts etc. Plus she’s had another child etc which in my eyes shows she’s moved on. |

I didn’t use a lawyer, our was straight forward tho, no financial order required and we’d already sorted the kids out and property etc long before the divorce. It was just a case of me filling the form out and the court sending a copy to the ex to agree and sign which she did. It was all very quick and easy but obviously not everybody is in such an amicable position. |

Look up Consent Orders anyway. Even if you're divorced she could come after you for more money in the future if you don't draw a line under your finances now- for example if you inherit money. 'Divorce Online' are cheaper than using solicitors. |

Most people know or assume that the law generally requires a written, signed agreement for a transaction to be legally binding. They don't realize that an email exchange can also satisfy the legal requirements and collectively constitute a binding contract.  |

Ours took 6 months, straightforward, no kids, we had already sold our place 3 years ago so nothing financial to deal with. It did drag a little as they lost our marriage certificate. |

Ours should have been quick like this. West Midlands courts fucked up a few times along the way with paperwork. My ex is trying to get some money back for us for the inconvenience. |

2 years of pure hell. What I should have done was bend over and taken it up the wrong en then smiled and said thank you very much. Least that way I'd still have got shafted but saved 1000s on solicitors fees. Thinking about it I'm not sure who was the bigger parasite. But obviously I'm not bitter  |
