How many of yoi that live alone make the effort to cook a decent meal just for yourself ?

Like today for instance, would you do a full roast just for you ?

I'm dreadful when it comes to cooking for myself.

I almost see it as a waste of gas using the oven.

I really should start bulk cooking and freezing.

I wouldn't cook a full roast but I do tend to cook myself good meals at least two days a week ??

The other times I still cook but much more basic stuff

No

Tend to cook couple times a month and fill freezer with home cooked ready meals

It’s too easy to go out!!

A roast and a pint at weatherspoons costs less than buying the ingredients in and cooking it yourself!!

Does opening tins and microwaving the contents count as " cooking "?

I do batch cook but half the time I really can’t be bothered with the faff of cooking properly just for me. I haven’t done a roast for years as it’s just a waste.

Absolutely love it, happily spend hours shopping and then cooking, my only true pleasure left.

Not a full roast but a 'cheeky' one for want of a better word.

Example:

A steak instead of a full joint.

Sauteed, peeled Baby Potatoes

Asparagus.

I don't mind if I spent 2 hours cooking myself something and making a huge mess

You could save energy by boiling a full kettle of water instead of half, then freezing it to make tea later...

Ps .. got that one from Vis, a few years ago.

I do cook properly but it's meals I enjoy the most and full Sunday roasts don't particularly do it for me.

Some days I just fancy good old beans on toast

I have cooked full roast dinners just for myself but I have one at lunch time then another one for supper and will have one the next day,but I love roast dinners and would happily eat one every day.

Today I'm doing one but my daughter will have one, my sister is coming over to have one and I'll take one down to my mother for when she finishes work.

I'm excited about my roasties today, I've been sprinkling them with a bit of plain flour when they're in the tray but today I'm parboiling for exactly 12 mins, allowing them to dry for 3 mins then sprinkling with plain flour and then fluffing them so that should give an even coat of flour on all sides for perfect crispage and then into spitting hot fat to roast. Exciting times

Mines as follows, oven to max preheated.

Dry off the pork, slight smear with oil, liberal amount of salt and a twist of pepper.

In the oven for 20 mins (at max) then turn down to 170 for the remainder of cookimg time.

When cooked, cut off the crackling and i usually finish of in mkcrowave to get it really crackling.

I always try and cook a decent meal, whether it's just me, the girls or I've got friends round. I helps me unwind after work most days.

Yes, I do and would. I prefer to eat properly and cook from scratch. However, today will be mainly alcohol and a pub lunch as out all day.

Midweek I have little time or energy to cook anything- so I live on different kinds of toast and cereal - and have staff lunches or go out for lunch.

I really should batch cook at weekends - I might do it today - after reading this thread I fancy a roast - and I could happily eat leftovers all week

I mainly bulk cook once a fortnight. Spag Bol, chilli, salmon fish cakes, that kind of thing. Then just cook the veg etc fresh when I need it.

I don't often fancy a roast, but when I do, I'm quite happy to cookbone just for me. Although tbf it's usually cheaper to go to Toby Carvery.

I live with family, but being vegan and extremely healthy and fussy i make all my own meals.

What i cook always lasts me 2 days.. so if i cook my own take on baked beans, then i might have it with a jacket potato one day and rice the next
