An interesting article about clubs.
www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/swinger-lifts-lid-what-clubs-13140881
'...guaranteed sex is one of the biggest myths going and there must, in every encounter, be clear consent from all parties involved.
“You still have to be attracted to that person in one way or another,” she said.
“People say ‘but you’re a swinger’ - but that doesn’t mean you’re a prostitute.” '
Do you think the regular articles about swinging is a good thing? The papers seem to print a story at least once a month. This article might hopefully put certain types off going to clubs. |

It’s an interesting one. There was a thread a few days ago praising the polyamorous couple who were on Naked Attraction and posing the possibility that this was representative of increasing tolerance. That would be nice; but I can’t help but feel the media interest in the lifestyle is more to do with a societal tendency towards a fascination for the apparently salacious. It’s a bit like the modern PT Barnum at times (or has the summer holiday filled my head with The Greatest Showman?). |

I think getting it out there with correct facts and information can only be a good thing. It's still classed as so taboo and "dirty" that hopefully as attitudes change so will people's expectations and pre conceived ideas |

I absolutely agree with you and how well written too! You can be very much in love with your partner and want to share some fun sexual experiences, involving others, with them. It’s a massive turn on but you must have a trusting non jealous relationship and be very clear on boundaries (if any). With all that, it’s so much fun and so very enjoyably naughty x |

Thing is - we have built up too many conventions and taboos around sex!!
Sure it’s great as part of a loving and deeply emotional relationship and I’m not dissing that- but it’s also fun on its own!!
There are few species on the planet who actually mate for fun outside procreation and we are one of them - so why make it difficult for each other
Beauty of the swinging scene is that we have dispensed with the game playing - we know what we are here for - and althougth the basic rules still apply - no means no - whenever it is said - we can get on with what we have come for!! |

Sex sells, but the facts are irrelevant to newspaper editors,so for every one positive article you'll find ten negative ones or stories told in the wrong context! |

I think it’s clear from recent threads that a lot of people don’t want more than to meet a fuck buddy or two here and have expressed difficulty in the idea of sharing their partner if they were to find someone special.
The conventional idea is of sharing and swapping partners, so although a simple concept, it appears to be a difficult one for a lot of people to understand the appeal and excitement that this particular kink holds for some people. |

I guess ultimately there's a perceived definition if what 'swinging' is, but who shoukd be the people that define what everyone actually gets up to?
Articles may give insights if they're balanced and represent a broad spectrum of people...or they may be selective to give sensationalist headlines.
I think it's a given that nothing is guaranteed in life...not just swinging! |

You're wrong. Yes it mentions the club and has a few pics of it (empty of course) but it is mainly about the fact that it's not all about shagging.
And anyway, what's wrong with advertising the club? |

There and to the left a bit |
I think there's good and bad in articles like this - on the one hand it dispels some myths but on the other hand (although it won't in this case) it does usually result in an influx of new members here, mostly single men with no idea (regardless of the content of the article) who expect a shagathon.
To be honest that particular article was very high level and superficial and barely scraped the surface. |

Having worked with the media in the past I know they can intentionally or unintentially leave elements out of the story.
The content that's left out can completely change the context of the story and often paints an innacurrate picture.
They also have to deal with copy space, so articles are edited to make them fit page space. Again this can change the context.
It's hard to get a wholly accurate story into the public domain and of course Joe Public likes a bit of titillation and moral shock.
I'll read the article later..... |

It’s impossible for a man surely. I have to get turned on, or ‘the sex’ isn’t going to happen.
Sounds simple I know, but that’s how I see it with myself. I can’t just have sex with anyone, or anytime for that matter.
(I know that view is not just reserved for a man) |
