"As long as they play the part properly in character then why would anyone have an issue. Its not as if we require actors to be psychopaths or murderers to play them in films."
It would be interesting to see a character like James Bond or Jason Bourne being portrayed AS a gay man,regardless of the sexuality of the actor.
(Austin Powers does not count as that was just TOO camp).
I'd like to see how Bonds sexist,misogynist attitudes would be interpreted. |

Bond’s character being gay would mean that the other characters that he has liaisons with, are fab straight/bi/gay. |

Yeah I agree, I don't think somones sexual orientation defines whether there gonna be a good actor or not. I think a gay bond is long overdue though |

Do you mean as a gay man or explicitly as a camp gay man? As a strong gay character I think would be fine but would probably kill the franchise with the mainstream audience, especually in the US. I think a Bond film with a camp portrayal would be awful based on just about every other camp character the film industry has come up with. |

Are we discussing Bond being played by a gay actor or the character Bond being portrayed as gay? The former, absolutely no issue with whatsoever its the actors ability that matters not their sexuality. If the latter than I truly despair! |

What difference does the sexuality of the actor make ? Bond is Bond.
Not every gay is a giggling mincer.
Most gays I meet throughout the week don't give any indication that they are gay ...... they are people.
If you mean should the character Bond be gay ....... why not ? It means the next film would have to have a coming out scene or a turning scene...........
Maybe he just goes for an arse n likes it......

i think James bond as a trannie would be excellent.. i mean for a start.. you have the element of disguise.... from James bond.. to janes blonde ...and the evil baddies are non the wiser...well maybe ... "miss blonde what incredibly hairy forearms you have."...  |

Yes,I meant James Bond being james Bond only directing his promiscuity towards men. Would he use and discard them in the same way? Would he be their rescuer? Would he be top or bottom?
the fight scene in (I think) From Russia With Love would be interesting,there already was a certain frisson and chemistry between Robert Shaw and Sean Connery. Neither was at all camp,though. |

If it turned out that Bond had been repressing his true nature all along,wouldn't that go a long way to explaining some of his behaviour? |

Well according to some people who were connected with the set up Daniel Craig wants a spectacular finale for bond .he wants him killed off.....cue for a Dr who ressurection. bond could then come back as absolutely anything the producers want |
