I'm a massive GoT fan.
I wish George Martin would finish the next book.
Cant wait to see the final series on TV next year.
Hopefully Jon Snow and Queen Dan on their dragons will defeat the evil white walkers who broke through the wall at end of last season. |

Its Game of Thrones. Do you really think there will be a happy ending? I predict the white walker King on the iron throne |

I hope there will be a happy ending!
I will be very sad if the white walker king ends up on the throne!
The way George Martin writes though we could all be in for a shock |

I hope so, it was one of the many things that made it so addictive earlier on when it felt like nobody was indispensable. |

I never tuned into all the GoT palaver, despite everyone saying o"oooh you've got to watch it."
Picked up the first series for less than a tenner from HMV. What's to lose eh?
Watched the entire series same day, back to HMV the following day for series 2 3 and 4. Been hooked ever since.
I saw a theory the other day that suggested Tyrion was a Targarion and he'd be the one who ends up on the throne.
Interesting theory and how it was thought out.
Also saw someone ask what all the fuss was about, at the end of the day they're all arguing about a chair. |

Yeah I never got how he was already saying hodor (hold the door) way way before that even happened?
It's one of those predestination paradoxes that made my head hurt watching terminator. |

I would be happy if Tyrion ended up sitting on the throne after all he has been through.
I also think he will be riding one of the dragons in the final battle with the Night king and his white walker army. |

George has said the ending will be "bitter sweet". Meaning it won't be a bad guy on the throne, but some good guys will be sacrificed to prevent that. |

That was one of the suggestions in the theory I read.

Tyrion being a Targarean (I know I've spelt the names wrong, please don't judge) is a show only theory. Apparently in the books it is clear it's not possible. His mother was nowhere near the King when she got pregnant with him. |

I've not read the books, is the series true to the books? I know it's not always possible for a screen adaptation to stick rigidly to a book storyline. |

Show is nothing like the books, the first two seasons are but after that, it’s madness. I adore the books, when I watch the show I have to pretend that it’s not based on the books, or I’ll get annoyed |

They do stick rigidly to it, Martin only allowed the series to go ahead if they stuck directly to the source material, so much so that he quizzed the exec producers about their knowledge and love for the books before he even entertained the green light.
The series will be as the books will be too. |

Here's the average review score of each season. Guess when they ran out of book material:
Season 1 - 80%
Season 2 - 90%
Season 3 - 91%
Season 4 - 94%
Season 5 - 91%
Season 6 - 73%
Season 7 - 77% |

Season 1 they did everything in the correct timeline. Then realised they had too much storyline for that to work. So Littlefinger got a teleporter |

No I accept the Dorne stuff and that pissed me off as I really like the sand snakes in the books. Teleportation is clearly in frequent use in Westeros and Esteros as characters pop up all over the place so fast |

"I never tuned into all the GoT palaver, despite everyone saying o"oooh you've got to watch it."
Tyrion being a Targarean (I know I've spelt the names wrong, please don't judge) is a show only theory. Apparently in the books it is clear it's not possible. His mother was nowhere near the King when she got pregnant with him.
Interesting.....
I've not read the books, is the series true to the books? I know it's not always possible for a screen adaptation to stick rigidly to a book storyline.
Seasons 1-5, close enough
Season 6 & 7 goes off the rails
That’s because the books aren’t written yet...
And the series writers just aren't very good at their job.
Isn’t one of those George rr Martin?
No"
Yes it is, check IMDB |

U on about its best show on tv"
For series 1-4, George had a lot of input in the script writing so it was good. He then took a break to concentrate on the next book - Winds of Winter - which is roughly set on series 6. The directors, D&D introduced a lot of new stuff and dumped a lot of stuff from the books. Series 6 was not as good, but in 7 it improved again (I think George got back involved). |

George wrote one full episode for seasons 1-4 and had heavy input for the others. He handed the reins over to the directors from season 5 onwards and the quality of the writing plummeted. I think he had a lot of influence in season 7 which is why it improved again. |

I've nerded out and watched lots on YouTube about it. George basically said that the reason he wanted to write books was to get away from all the constraints of film. For example, deadlines. He fucking hates deadlines. Season 6 gets all those constraints and someone else got to deal with them and did a bad job. Creativity doesn't follow a production schedule. |

True, basically he was sick of being told his ideas were too expensive. GoT has a huge budget, but it's unlikely they would have put that into an unproven script. |

Yes very true, but the first series didn’t, the big battle at the end of the first series (where Rob captured Jamie) happens off screen as they didn’t have the budget for a big battle scene! |

Contrast that with season 6 when you get the battle of the bastards. Undeniably beautiful to watch, but creatively it's a pile of wank following a formula that's already been used 3 times in the series. |

For the 4th time in the series, a supporting ally came out of nowhere to turn the tide of a battle. Which basically tells the viewer that everything that previously happened was irrelevant. Every moment of drama the portrayed either side doing better or worse was nullified by the fact that it would make zero difference to the end result. The only logical reason I can think that you'd want to do this would be to have a major good guy die. Which didn't happen so I think it was just cliche, lazy writing. |

Sadly it’s a bit of a convention at the moment and not just in GoT, the perception is to rank up the tension, put the protagonists in the worst possible situation then the cavalry sweeps in to save the day. Dramatic tension is the name of the game rather than realistic or tactical knowledge. |

It's idiotic writing and doesn't make any sense. Have you ever been a pro wrestling fan at all? Listening to how they construct a fued helped me learn a lot about logical story telling that will be most satisfying to the audience. |
