The hardest part of a vinyl record to scuff or break is its centre. It's also more solidly mounted and less effected by warping. As such, everything about a record screams that it would've been better for records to have played from the centre out, rather than the rim in. Even cueing up the start of a song would've been easier and more precise, with the needle also less prone to bouncing. Even the worst records would start relatively clear sounding and end in crackles rather than vice versa.
What inventions would you have done differently if you'd had the chance? |
