Stalker alert!!

Ok so I’ve got a bit of a stalker, he’s contacted me on a dating platform commenting on me being on here, no big deal as I sometimes have face pics on here and can easily be recognised and it wouldn’t bother me if I was. It was more the way he knew where I lived and the questions he was asking that has made me come to the conclusion that it’s someone I know.

I was bitten a good few years ago by a catfish profile that in turn ended up to be my ex (kids dad) it was very surreal in hindsight I should of realised but it wasn’t until I spotted something on a picture that everything fell into place. I felt totally violated and was actually physically sick!

Anyway back to my question, aside from blocking (as I’ve done ) but I’m assuming this person is someone I know and may have my number as I’ve had a few no caller ID phone calls lately , what else can I do if this escalates? Or has anyone any similar situations?

Call the Police. They take stalking very seriously.

I’ve got a problem with my ex keeps making profiles on here, I’ve been advised to keep a diary of what happens and any messages, then go to the police. I hope whoever it is just stops and leaves you alone, hopefully the block will work x

Consider talking to the police, stalking is a criminal offence and at last taken seriously

I will do, the more I think about it there’s been a few instances which has made me think something isn’t right lately. I’ll start making note of things

Sorry to hear this.

Someone you know, or a complete stranger?

You can block profiles. They make a new one and then you spot the similarities.

I'd be on my toes for a while, watching out for anything odd, online or in life, that doesn't seem to add up.

Chances are it is a harmless geek

Keep photos of everything, screenshot on your phone and put in a folder in case you need to print it off at a later date.

And i mean everything (that raises your suspicions).

Emails, instant messages, texts, missed call logs. Everything.

That way they can cross reference if they have to and you have shitloads of evidence.

I’ve started to do this in my notes,

I get the feeling it’s someone I know but haven’t met , but I’ve had a few instances over the past few months where a certain person keeps coming back with different profiles different numbers texting randomly but I’ve called them out. I’ve threatened with police a few months ago and they backed off , yet slowly happening again. Maybe I’m paranoid but my gut is hackled.

Apart from the advice already given. Set your message filters so you cant be contacted by new profiles, profiles with no verifications and no photos. Change your user name and consider changing your location. This will make you more difficult to contact if the person makes new profiles.

If you think they're gleaning information about you from fab delete your profile and set up a new one with the above in place.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you. I’ve akready made my location more ambiguous, I can’t see the point in anything else as this person knows who I am and contacted me on another site. Would a change of user name make me vanish off their hotlist ? Or would I just show as different name?

You'd just show under a new name I think.

I can see why you don't think there's much point though.

I don’t mean that in a lazy way, I was just wandering if there’s any point changing user name as this person obviously has me hotlisted. I’ve changed the rest of my settings though

Make sure you contact the police L and as everyone else has mentioned keep a record of every situation!! Changing your name on here won’t take them off their Hotlist but you can create a new profile and narrow down who can contact you!

I won’t change my username as yet as I find it useless, but I will swap to new profile if it comes to it. If set all my filters tight so fingers crossed it’s just a chancer x
