Who remembers particular moments in family movies that were pretty scary?

I remember one moment in Ghostbusters 2 where Ray, Egon and Winston go into an unused subway tunnel to look for the slime river and have a laugh making echoes shouting hello and when Winston does it, there's nothing but silence and then a demonic disembodied voice calls his name and then they get instantly surrounded by decapitated heads on pikes.

For a movie intended for families and kids, that is some pretty scary stuff as that's like something out of a horror movie.

Now those moments were pretty damn scary, it's pretty terrifying for a Superman movie to have a woman be cyberised and placed under the super computer's control.

The reveal of Judge Doom's identity in Roger Rabbit is horrifying and his death is downright disturbing.

Agree with ghostbusters, the demon dogs from the first one were pretty scary, especially when their limbs rip from the couch to restrain the girl, fucked up.

Yeah, that scene is definitely scary with how them demonic arms rip through the chair like that. Did you notice one of arms was copping a feel?

I can understand that but there were elements in the sequel that felt darker and scarier than in the first movie especially the villain.

Yeah, I get what you mean about that scene as you can't but feel like our favourite characters are moments away from being incinerated and they have no means of escape and they actually embraced the inevitable.

I'll have to agree as it is a pretty fucked up movie especially with some of it's horrific imagery.

There is actually a video on YouTube of all the horrific moments from the movie with the theme tune from The Omen playing in the background.

The fact you found the "monster" in the 1 film adorable is ezakley my point. That's y the 2nd film is mutch mor darker.

And the fact you got a plush toy of the marshmallow man. That's just cool. Hope you still have it as its probably worth a bit by now.

As for Ghostbusters 2, while it was being made, executives actually forced them to make the movie more kid-friendly much like the Real Ghostbusters cartoon.

"Jaws when hooper diving down to check the wrecked boat an head bobs down with eye hanging out haha

Yip good old family film"

When Jaws was first released in the 70s it was an 18 (equivalentl) these days it's just a 12, so pretty much a family film if you have older kids!

Just shows how the ratings have changed over the years and what we now allow kids to watch.

Yeah it’s crazy ratings

I remember jaws when I was 5 I think my dad decided I’d watch with him better as they caught me and friends watching American werewolf in London and evil dead around same age as we found parents pirate vhs

Ano bad to let kids see films but was fun an I always loved film cos it

Disney films sure had a fare share of scary moments ranging from being over the top to being subtle.

What I thought was a masterfully done scary moment is the spindle scene from Sleeping Beauty. It's dark, suspenseful and creepy as hell with the most haunting piece of music and who can forget Maleficent's terrifying reappearance in the fireplace with her just standing there staring with her yellow glowing eyes.
