WEEK THIRTY-THREE!!! Or there abouts!
As there hasn’t been one started this week I thought I’d throw this up, I hope WD and MT don’t mind!
.
MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug
.
.
.
Hey lovely Fab Crap Runners!
It's Week Thirty-two!!!
.
.
.
How is everyone doing?
.
.
.
EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:
EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).
From 1st January, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.
.
.
.
FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:
"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.
.
.
.
FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:
Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.
.
.
.
FCRC SOCIAL PARKRUN POLL
I've set up a Doodle poll - completely anonymous - to set up our next Social parkrun. It will be at Great Denham (near Bedford), but I plan on scouting out locations for those who cannot get there.
You can vote in the poll here:
https://doodle.com/poll/9n4mmaaptzhy6y2n
I'll leave it open for a couple of weeks.
.
.
.
AND FINALLY:
Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress. |

An hour of intervals on the treadmill tonight. Park run pace was just pver 8 minute mile on Saturday so used that as a base. 4 lots of 90secs at 7 1/2 min/mile straight into 30 seconds at 7 min/mile. And then after a rest 5 lots of 30 seconds at 6 1/2 min/mile. Every effort included a 2 minute gradual build up to interval pace. Well and truly bolloxed now! |

It was brutal, I can feel it now that's for sure!
When people say treadmills are dull or boring I suggest sessions like this to prove them wrong |

This was on a treadmill?
I can’t say that I’ve got any love for dreadmills nor interval sessions for that matter, they’re both a wonderful new fresh hell for me |

If I'm feeling good I love a decent interval session and personally I think that they are far easier to structure on a treadmill unless you have access to a track. A necessary evil on my quest for a sub 22 minute parkrun! |

Sub-22? I'd currently be happy with a sub-30! |

That makes sense. I don’t have a Garmin watch or anything for my interval training, I have to just wing it going by how my pace feels!
A sub 22 parkrun is a worthy target. My start of year target was sub 25, I’m currently on 22.51 |

Across a 5km route that’s a lot, I did 300m across a half marathon distance and that felt quite extreme |

"Thanks for starting the next thread for me
You're back!!!!
I will out tomorrow
Yes, as from about 1pm today
I'm not 100%, so I won't be running for a bit."
Hope you are well and running again soon.
I did my first 8k run today. Lost time getting lost and checking the route in places but staggered around in under 46 minutes.
Quicker average than my 7k though that was on dangerous trip hazard countryside lol |

I’m just back from my last interval session (I think) before my marathon. Personally I think that interval sessions in the rain could be the new way that the CIA extract information from prisoners... |

"god running who ever enjoys it is mental
*waves* what the hells wrong with you women
How long have you got? "
How about I enjoy the social side more than the actual running. Plus half the time there's cake afterwards |

4km run this morning in 24.40 (averaging 6.10 for a km or 30.50 for a 5km).
Not to shabby time, pace or distance. Generally happy with that.
Then cycled 6.2km after in 15 mins. So overall buzzing |

"I’ve got my long run this afternoon, feeling nervous even though I ran this distance the other week, peak month is scaring me"
You'll be fine. Remember, it's likely to be cooler than two weeks ago, so will be easier. Take it steady. |

"I'm still on the injured list
Not much you can do for a sore achilles
Lots of rest is the best thing!
Have you been told how long to stop for?"
I'm on day ten of a self imposed shut down, it's driving me mad, but I know that I'll just cripple myself if I try anything too soon.
at the moment I think it's going to be another 10 days |

Good to hear you are being sensible about it! Too many people come back from injury too quickly, or straight back at their previous intensity. |

Yeah this for sure. Was struggling in the hot weather.
But at least thigh has held up though now opposite ankle is niggling
Should be ok for Tuesday’s run |

"I did it! 30km last night in just over 3 hours! Over 300 metres of elevation.
I’m pretty chuffed with myself "
i'm just going for a 20m walk to the car and back..wish me luck !
Joke aside - i'm new to these forae / forii / forums and had no idea how ...broad was the subject matter...
For all of you who (and there seem to be many) have the motivation and ability to get out and do it...my hat is doffed most earnestly in your direction...to those who aspire...go for it - you may just feel better or need a massage after (that's where i come in) -
Now - where did i leave my car keys ?! |

4.04 miles in 43m 16s. Try to keep the pace to around 11 minutes miles. 2 weeks till my next 10k and 6 till my first half . Currently struggling with motervation as my work load has gone up at work and finishing till between 3 & 5 am, so have dropped my running down to twice a week |
