Plenty of self-help tutorials on the internet, which perhaps can be summarised as:
* You need to begin stretching the muscles

I wouldn't bother with plugs at all they're completely different shape to a cock... fingers are a good place to start and always use loads of lube.
Also go slowly and relax and use loads of lube.
Most important thing to remember is use plenty of lube.

When I have used my strapon a guy, I used one lubed finger, then two, then in with my rubber cock.

Right I'm quite a anal newbie, but what worked for me was douching first. If you douche it already makes you more relaxed as your not worried about making a mess.
Having a glass of wine or something for Dutch courage and to help you relax.
There is a serum you can buy from love honey that helps a little you put it on and dab it back off. A well lubed finger with some really good lube, I love liquid silk. Loads and loads of lube, if you think you have enough put even more on for good luck.
Trust in your partner. Get him to enter very slowly and just hold it there for ages. Then slowly start to move when your ready, he got me to hold a wand on my clit too which helped loads as it helped me enjoy the sensation and relax more. Don't go at it for 2 long on the first session, just a few minutes then remove clean up and have some vaginal fun. Agree with the advice about fingers rather than plugs. It also helps you learn where your sphincters are.
I do use jelly plugs now though. They have more flex than other types and so are more comfortable to use. I use them just before sex to stretch the smooth muscle and to get used to just feeling something there.
I do choose to douche. For me it puts my mind at ease about mess and I relax a lot more. Do it a while beforehand so if any water is trapped there is time for that to come out.
And remember that second sphincter is smooth muscle, so you can’t relax it consciously, it has to be stretched slightly, then get used to being stretched, then stretched a bit more. That’s why slow entry and pauses are so important.
