Has anyone else seen the clip of a guru giving a speech about the most powerful 5 letter word?
In it he talks about a flow diagram that goes as follows
Do you have a problem? No. Why worry?
Do you have a problem? Yes. Can you do anything about it? No. Why worry?
Do you have a problem? Yes. Can you do anything about it? Yes. Why worry?
I'm trying to adopt this as my personal mantra now. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
My sister has been using that for years. She describes it as the pointless emotion.
I worry about her.
I go with, It will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not yet the end.

I'm one of lifes worriers, but have slowly learnt not to worry so much as hubby pretty much lives by that mantra.
I also try and find something joyful everyday, no matter how small - I certainly feel a much happier person. |

I'm a natural born worrier.
It affects my nerves so much sometimes that I shake and feel very unwell.
I'm stressing about flying on Friday so got some sedatives, but I could do with some right now.

imo bad advice.
There are things you can change and things you can't. The key is to focus on what you can change and not worry about what you can't.
What is up to you, your emotions, judgments, attitude, perspective, desires, decisions which a lot of people blame others for.
What is not up to you
Weather, the economy, circumstances (yes and no), other people’s emotions, judgments, trends, disasters etc. |

That's exactly what it's saying.... Can you do something about a problem? Yes. Great, then why worry? No? Then why worry.... It's going to happen anyway. |

There’s a gert huge asteroid on collision course with earth. I can’t do owt about it, but I’m damn well gonna worry about it!
But yeah, I get the idea. The thing is the theory is a bit black and white - in reality you *might* be able to do something about a situation but it might be a struggle to achieve it.
eg debt worries. Can you feed your kids next week? Telling someone not to worry about it is all well and good, but life isn’t as simple as that!
For most trivial matters though I agree with the sentiment, and indeed I tend to let things wash over me and let what will be, be if I can’t directly influence it! |
