When I finish a workout I’m absolutely boiling hot. All sweaty and red which is nice
Anyhow, about 10 minutes after I cool down and cannot get warm. I shiver. I have to wear layers. Anyone know why this happens and what I can do to combat it? I’m absolutely freezing! |

Have you asked any of the personal trainers? |

Yeah. She put it down to dehydration but that’s not an issue. I drink enough water daily. |

I usually sweat for ages after, especially spin classes. Maybe you cool down too quickly. |

Its your body trying g to regulate core temperature. Are you cooling down properly after your workout? It lowers your temperature gradually rather than just stopping which can cause you to feel cold and shiver |

I’m well trained in my cool down and stretch out. Had it drilled into me after leaving gym and waking with muscles stiffer than the cocks of meerkat corner watching an orgy.
I’m currently stealing body heat from the patterdales. |

Strange, I trained earlier and since I got in I’ve just been wearing boxers and I’m still warm! Might be worth a chat with your gp and make sure there’s nothing underlying |

As another poster just advised I'd get a quick check up with your GP.
Dehydration (the standard cop out) isn't the cause unless you're doing your gym workouts for a couple of hours in the Sahara at noon. |

OMG this happens to me too!
Honestly I have wondered why it happens and wondered if it’s down to your temperature trying to get back to normal or something.
I love working it now but that after workout freeze is horrible! Haha. |

I haven't heard of this. Do you still use a PT? Maybe they could shed some light. |

As stated earlier I think it's just homeostasis where your body is trying to regulate your body temperature to it's optimum temperature, however if you do it dramatically you'll get a negative effect i.e. feeling cold, after a workout make sure you've filled down, wrapped well after leaving gym and ensure you're always hydrated, your body will always start to act up when it's dehydrated especially during and after exercise.
Hope that helps X |

The clue is in your second sentence. Your sweaty. Sweat is evaporating from you. This will cool down your skin very quickly. Hence the shivers. There's nothing sinister going on. Just get out of your damp sweaty stuff quickly, and get dry then change your clothes. Unless of course your taking a shower immediatly. Is the gym particularly cold, or air conditioned? |
