We are needing to hire a car for our holiday in France in 2 weeks time. Have done lots of internet comparison sites & got a price we’d be happy paying, problem is the company has got poor reviews & uses aggressive selling for extra insurance. All other companies are considerably more expensive.
As it’s not peak season, could we take a chance & book something last minute, even thought we could just turn up at the airport, & try & haggle with the rental companies to get a better price.
Has anybody left it last minute & got a bargain or turned up in the country & hired there & then? Thanks.

Auto Europe- good broker x don’t buy additional insurance but use insuremyexcess.com
The hire company may block up to 1500 Euro but will release it quite quick if no issue. If u have an issue u use the insuremyexcess policy |

I’ve used holiday autos to book over the last 8 years, never had a problem. I always opt for ‘established’ companies such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar etc. There are sometimes some really cheap options, local operators but I think you know where you are with a multinational.
I’ve also taken holiday autos ‘comprehensive insurance cover’ as it works out considerably cheaper than that offered when you get to the counter picking up the car. Of course it’s by redemption, you pay the excess in event if an accident and then claim back from the insurance. The once I have had to claim it worked fine. |
