Fast metabolism ? You can eat dirty too just within reason , lift heavy low reps , eat big eat more simple as that mate if your not bulking it’s your food intake that’s the problem , good bulk foods - nuts, pasta , rice , chicken

Try eating 6 average sized meals throughout the day I find that works best , never skip breakfast , get your supplements in beetween meals as snacks stick to it and you should find gains within a month or two

Before this thread goes all wrong (all weight related ones do) I have to say that. I titally understand the frustrations slim people have when struggling to put weight on. Just because it's easy for me to put it on its not the same for everyone and can cause the same anxieties as losing weight does for others.

Liquid calories are your friend.

250 ml full fat milk, 50g oats, 25g peanuts, 1 banana, 50g whey protein.

Easy 700 or so calories in that and not filling.

You are perfect as you are.

Do NOT become inactive that only leads to fat.

DO keep moving and straining a little as that will build muscle ( if that is what you want )

Read up on eating proteins to make muscle and how to safely help your muscle to develop.

Dedicate the rest of your life to being a bloody vain idiot cos if you stop the muscle will turn to fat.

I lost quite a bit of weight by eating clean. It was 50% fat, 30% protein, 20% carbs. Eating fat doesn’t make you fat but sugar does. I’ve put on a little bit of weight since I relaxed the no wheat and sugar bit.

I have a similar problem and i was given some advice from a couple of bodybuilders on how people like ourselves can gain weight by cutting out as much sugar in the week and the weekend eat as much as possible but maintaining high levels of carbs and protein.

It makes your body go into panic mode and stores all of the sugars and turn it into fat instead of it being wasted.... or something like that lol... so far I'm seeing differences though and I'm 10 weeks in.

Are you trying to put weight on as in lean muscle mass?

If so things to consider:

Genetics - some people have genetics which lend themselves to gaining muscle more or less easily than others. Looking at your maternal and paternal line will help.

Training - are you regularly putting your muscles through strain?

Nutrition - Maintaining a caloric surplus isn't always needed. That's a thing for the huge guys. If you are just trying for a lean and athletic physique then so long as you are not massively under caloric requirements you'll put mass on, if the next bit is met; you have to have a good supply of protein and the required amino acid diversity, not to mention the correct amount of micro and macro nutrients.

Central

Bodybuilding type bulking needs constant diet management. This includes what you eat and when. See a specialist for help. If you don't care so much about what type of body tissue you are gaining, it's a little easier but potentially you will best get the results you want from extensive focus on dietary habits as well as your lifestyle, including physical activity and rest.

"You need a calorie surplus , clearly your not eating enough to bulk mate sorry to tell u but .......... eat more , eat right , eat! "

It's not just as simple as eating.

I used to consume probably in excess of 6000kcals a day - a typical days food would be an epic-sized full English (ie 4 sausages, 6 bacon, 2 eggs, 4 hash browns, beans, tinned tomatoes, grilled tomatoes, fried mushrooms, toast, fried slice and sometimes even a burger and chips on top), during the day I'd scoff chocolate bars and have an entire pack of biscuits, for dinner I'd have a whole roast poussin, mounds or roasties, sweet potato, butternut squash, creamed leeks, carrots, peas, lashings of gravy...I'd probably have a pudding as well. All day long I'd drink tea non-stop, with two big sugars that are more like a normal person's 4 sugars - and the only exercise I got was twiddling my thumbs on the PlayStation controller.

I was 8 and a half stone and never changed. Until 25, then it switched to ten and a half. Then 30 it went again to 11, and there I stay, regardless of what I eat.

I should by all rights be one of those blokes that needs a hoist to get out of bed. The whole food/exercise/weight relationship is nowhere near as simplistic as people like to make out

Just more calories, cheapest way and healthiest is increase fats not carbs. Peanut butter, olive oil on food, still clean but big calorie increase.

There is literally no other way than eating more calories.

This, olive oil is awesome. 15ml over your veg, in a shake you can't taste it. 3 times a day that's the easiest 400 calories you'll ever have.

somewhere over the rainbow

1 cup of frozen fruit

1 cup of oats

1 whole egg

2 egg whites

1 tb of peanut butter

1 tb of Greek yogurt

300ml of milk

1 scoop of protein powder

1 ts of olive oil

BLEND... do this twice a day, morning and before bed, there's 2500 cals there, plus eat throughout the day...

Don't just eat healthy fats like someone suggest because that will cause you to burn fat, this you don't want

Count yourself lucky OP..

When i was younger -late teens to late 20's- i could not put on weight no matter how much i ate, and i ate a lot i loved my food but was stuck at 9st for years due to a fast metabolism ..

Ff to my early 40's and the weight piled on due to an undiagnosed underactive thyroid so i went from one extreme to the other in the space of about 12 yrs..

All you need is calorie surplus. Keep at it and it will come trust me. If you want a handy tip for easy homemade gainers then buy a Nutri Ninja. Blend 80g of oats to a fine Powder. Add a scoop of protein (gold standard whey of course), 30g of crushed almonds, 50g of blueberries and 50g of strawberries with about 400ml of full fat milk and blend. Drink 2 of those a day in between meals, train hard and trust me you'll put weight on. Stay focused.... don't skip meals and weigh yourself once a month. Ps you have a fucking massive cock ya bastard haha.
