Would you have ongoing relationship sexual or otherwise with someone with a completely different political perspective than you?

Manchester (she/her)

Sexual, maybe, although it'd make it difficult.

Otherwise, almost certainly not.

Maybe sexually , but as in an ongoing relationship no.

I’m quite political and I’m passionate about the party I vote and support.

Yes providing she was not conservative in the bedroom. and she laboured away to please me. and she was liberal about anal sex. It would be a nightmare if she turned out to be a raving looney party girl.

Do you believe a partner's politics can make them more sexually desirable?

Yes. I never understand people who say ‘if you voted Brexit, then pass me by!’ Etc

Do you know there reasons, it’s usually left wing people saying it about the right. Haven’t seen anyone say if you read The Guardian then pass me by.

So you couldn’t have a relationship with someone you disagreed with on certain subjects ?

I guess what I wanted to explore was the idea that are liberal women (who would be labelled by the right SJW's) more attracted to men who fit traditional male archetypes or men who share their political perspective?

No. Definitely not a relationship and I've never knowingly kissed a tory and that will never change

I’m partial mixing politics and sex.

But I couldn’t fuck Diane Abbott.

Hate to tell you, but you probably already have, lots of times. No one admits to voting Tory, but they always get in.

lively debate around the dinner table is not a prohibition on a relationship. So yes, as long as we got on different politics would be fine.

Yes. I have.

We just respected each other's view, sometimes wound each other up in a playful way, usually as a precursor to sex.

Unfortunately I think the Mrs increases the value of the mail online website by millions singlehandedly with the amount of time she spends on that site.

Different political perspective - yes.

Different values - no.

If we disagreed on the politics of how to fix the housing crisis then that's just a difference of opinion.

If they were the kind of person who said stuff like "You shouldn't give money to homeless people, they'll only spend it on drugs" then that would be a difference in values that made anything between us untenable

OP, what has prompted two threads on the same subject.

Using reply and quote also helps us to know which post you are replying to.

Apologies. Although we have been on the site for a while we/i am not hugely active dont know how to use some of the forum functions. Saying that it seems as though things have branched off somewhat so I'm cool letting them both take a life of their own.

That's the nature of discussions.

One has a more loaded title than the other but you are, essentially, asking the similar questions in both. I just wondered what prompted that.

I've already surmised it's the male half of the couple posting.

It depends how different they are, I would think twice if they had far right wing ideals on politics.

In regards to what prompted the question i was watching the joe rogan podcast as i do and Jordan Peterson (I don't not subscribe to many of his views) was a guest and this came up. I thought it was an interesting talking point that could be explored.

Fair enough. Ideas for posts come from many places and it is an interesting idea.

There are more dimensions to a person than just their political views. I thoroughly believe that opposites attract.
