A comment from gloswingers* on the profile critique thread that a fair few of my pictures are pointless made me wonder what is a pointless picture on here?
If men have too many cock pictures, especially from similar angles, then that seems a bit pointless, to me - but probably not to them.
*Their view and I asked for comments by joining the thread.
What is a pointless picture?

People upload different pictures to Fab for different reasons. They all have a point even if the point is missed. Not everyone likes every photo in a gallery but as long as you like yours then it’s all good.

I can't work out how yours are pointless? They're pics of you which clearly show you as you are, isnt that the point? I see photos on profiles as a way to understand a little of that persons personality, saying that though a pic of shoes may tell me that person likes to look good, likes shopping and has great taste in socks but doesn't show me anything of the physicality of them. If that makes sense

i don't see any pointless pictures on your profile at all a lot of people think being completely revealing pictures are the only one that deserve to be on here which I completely disagree with. |

The only pointless pictures are the ones which don't contain the person/ people in question. Or maybe the ones that barely do. I saw a picture on a man's profile once that was a naked woman except for what was probably his finger. I think that's pretty pointless too. |

Just looked through ours and I asked 'whats the point' of each of them and apart from bdsm ones, there is no point! That's the point isn't it? Over to the viewer's own interpretation!

Someone sent me a face picture a few days ago of their head and shoulders, with a big black rectangle over their entire face, I'd say that's pretty pointless. I've also received one of a man in a hood with the whole face obscured out. I don't understand those at all, you can't even work out body type from them. |

I hate those pictures and think they should be banned, but I don't see them as pointless. They tell me, quite clearly, that he isn't someone I want to meet. |

I’m crap at taking pictures and I’m crap at writing profiles. Only on the odd occasion do I get a snap of myself and I think, ‘hmm that looks good’.
To be honest, people can put whatever they want on their profile. I can’t really say what’s pointless and what’s not - if they like it, and that’s what they want on it (albeit similar pictures). Then, so be it.

For me, the choice of pictures is important. Why’s that? Well I want to see if the type of person I imagine from the way the profile is written, matches the type of pictures they put up.
Then if there’s consistency between the two it means you can start to really decide whether your attracted to them.
I think pointless pictures probably include ultra close ups of pretty much anything, but particularly genitalia. I want to see a whole person on a picture, not them in bits. And not ‘artfully taken’ shots designed to disguise true body habitual.
Any sensual/erotic/sexy/graphic pictures just make me think, and who took that for you? Or, why didn’t you move that out of the background? Or, did you need a tripod and timer for that one? Or, why the hell did you think that was acceptable...?? |

I haven't read the whole Thread but my answer is in direct answer to the OP:
Photos are the visual way we portray ourselves, our humour and maybe how w see ourselves to support the written way.
That is their purpose and therefore their point. If people cannot see that then that is their loss. |
