"Will it be really smokey?
Burning this morning, the stuff's so dry it went up like a torch with very little smoke."
I get nervous when I start a charcoal bbq off due to the smoke.
Worried the neighbours might say something and I'll have to start WW3 with them. So far so good though |

There is no law restricting the burning of garden waste in gardens provided it is done infrequently and the smoke doesn't cause a nuisance. If there is cause for complaint the local authority can serve an abatement notice under the Environmental Protection Act (1990) though this is rare. The same goes for barbeques.
A little common sense is all that is needed. For example i won't burn if neighbours have their washing out or lots of windows open, nor will i burn anything that will give off noxious smoke, eg plastic and the fire is always attended.
I haven't had any complaints so far. |

This kind of thing is always a worry for me when having a bonfire. This is why i've held off until now.
I know of a local guy who had one too close to a hedge, the hedge caught and he had to be rushed to hospital after he tried to put it out. A little common sense goes a long way. |
