I'm on holiday in gorgeous Cornwall at the moment and am loving their names for various towns and villages - Ventongimps being the best so far which really made me chuckle (wanton gimps!)
Went past somewhere called Middle Wallop on the way here which was good too!
What weird or interesting place names have you discovered on your travels or live nearby?? |

Of course you could try North Wales: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
pronounced (no pauses between the following words and note the ch is usually sounded as hard not soft e,g, as in the ch in chasm):
clan fire pulch gwyn gich go ger uch win drawb uch clan t sillyo go go gok
meaning: Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio of the red cave.
and usually shortened locally to LPG! |

"Think there's a Semicock Road in Ballymoney in County Antrim.
As previous poster said there's a village called Muff just down the road. Also a place called Cockhill not too far away also"
There is. |

The last fuel fill with the fuel coupons before the boarder "
There’s also a town in Germany called “Fucking” |

You know the sign to Ventongimps is right next to the one for Cocks? Always a holiday maker favourite.
The sign to Pussy in France always makes me smile.
But my favourite is to walk up rude hills...
As mentioned Brown Willy is the highest point in Cornwall.
Fan y Big is a 719m peak in the Brecon Beacons.
Best of all, Mount Wank in Germany. You can even celebrate getting to the top with a beer in the Wank Haus.

Welcome to Cornwall....
There was even a band here named after the village... “The Venton Gimps”
But not that far away from Ventongimps we have Cocks and Cocks Hill and also Cockswell....

There's a road near Hitchin (can't remember what it's called) and on the sign it says "formerly known as Wibbly Wobbly Lane"
Who in fuck's name would actually *change* that??!? Whats wrong with them, thats a great name!

Cocks Ram Lane, opposite sports direct in Newport if anybody looking for a photo opportunity whilst visiting the island.
I so do want Mrs FGoS to be in lingerie and bent over the "Welcome to Ryde" sign, it's a great looking sign... |

"I live near Worlds End. You can get a bus there and everything.
Special mention to Needless Alley in Birmingham city center. It still makes me smile."
If you have kids they could walk to either Worlds End or Nonsuch Primary Schools. A fine choice...
...just a couple of miles from the neighbouring villages of Lickey End and Bell End |

"There's a place round here called Lunt that people keep changing to Cunt on the road sign "
Which reminds me of "Shilbottle" just off the A1 to the South of Alnwick. Some wag changed the "l" to a "t" - which made me chuckle. |
