I've just finished My Dear I Wanted To Tell You by Louisa Young which was a recommendation on a similar thread a while back and a very good one it was too.
It's similar to Birdsong in that it's a love story set against the backdrop of the trenches in the First World War but is very evocative, moving and well written - the kind of fiction that makes you think as well as telling a good story. Definitely recommended and am very grateful to the person that recommended it to me. |
