mis-types and auto corrects leads cock leeds

And the former police officer who was convicted of 2 r@pes has been released following his parole hearing after 7 years.

It's suspected he committed over 30 sexual offences.. if he had been a taxi driver do you think he would have been released ?

Sadly yes. If anything his job could/should have been counted as an aggravating factor (position of trust, etc.).

At least it will have been a very long and lonely 7 years.

It would definitely have been seen as an aggravating factor. Plus the inmates will have hated him. As will the prison staff. Prison when even the other sex offenders hate you must be horrendous.

And every step of the process, the police, the CPS, the judge non of them will have wanted to be accuses of going easy on him

I haven't seen the story. How has he been let out after just 7 years if he got 2 life sentences? How is 'life' 3.5 years?

I'm guessing the judge at the original trial set the minimum term before eligible for parole at 7 years, he applied and at the first attempt he was successful and s o released ...given the furore recently over John warbouys I'm surprised..

Even the guys daughter was on the news report saying it wasn't just.

Maybe it's fairer to start sentencing more honestly. Thus; I sentence you based on judicial guidelines that the horrendous crime is worth 7 years with an evaluation that if we think you are still dangerous (and the prisons not overcrowded) we can keep you longer up to 30 years.

Daft thing is, you get 7 years for tax evasion which hurt only the treasury who bail out criminals. The world is mad!

South Oxfordshire

There is no such thing as a "life" sentence anymore (not for offenses that occurred before 2005(ish).

What people are sentenced to now is an indeterminate public protection order, where they are sentenced to a minimum term (in this case 7 years) but if the offender does not meet certain requirements they will stay in prison until they do.

I heard on the radio that this police officer was released before Warboys so we cannot find out what he has done inside prison to prove he is not a danger to the public. The law/guidelines were changed because of the Warboys release.

BTW, I'm not saying that this guy should be released, just trying to explain how the system works.
