My other one was a few years ago met someone who picture wasn’t of them when actually met when said she got all ardent cos I didn’t wanna date or stuff even though they lied about who was.

Has anyone else had these experiences

Many moons ago I met a man who said he was 6ft , he was 5ft 4 at a push

Also a man who’s pictures were about 15 years out too , came straight from work in the most god awful pinstripe suit , stank of sweat and when I mentioned the discrepancy with the pictures - told me I was shallow

He used old pictures to get meets , he’d been recently verified too !!

It’s not shallow to be truthful

Met a girl for a date once and she was at least 5 stone heavier than her pictures.

I understand people wanting to show good pics but they must at least be accurate.

Why do they do it? Of course it matters. It’s like going to the butchers, licking your lips at the thought of a nice juicy steak and he says he’s only got a bit of mutton left. Mind, you can’t beat a bit of mutton, at the right time and when you know that’s what you’re getting. Lol

A guy from another site sent us pictures of himself with glossy black hair. We agreed to meet and drove a long way to the agreed place. He was an hour late and when he did turn up was completely grey. During the course of a polite drink he took a phone call and carried on a non urgent conversation.

We didn't meet again.

In this digital age, pics on people’s profile should have an ‘expiry date’ . Shouldn’t be to difficult for anyone to refresh their pics at least once a year !......shouldn’t it ?

It’s another form of timewasting in my opinion.

I hate when I get messages on here from guys who’ve lied about their age. I once met a man who claimed to be 35, sent loads of photos turned out he was 50.

His excuse was he looks young for his age, he didn’t. Delusional at best!

If you are arranging a meet, arrange a time and date prior to the meet when all are available and meet on cam (we use kik)

You can all say hello and ensure you are all getting what is advertised.

Yeah I know now at time hadn’t thought or worries I met a lady about 6 yrs ago through pof when she turned up I didn’t recognise her cos she had used pics of her daughter on her profile cos she said she looked like her when she was 30. The lady in question was great for 55 but I couldn’t get past she lied.

Yeah now you can skype or face time etc but not the thing I think of when meeting cos usually excited to get a meet lol

On regular dating sites I ensure I post full body pics, on here it’s in my username etc. and will send photos during conversation.

I wonder how people think they will be successful like that.

I’d be totally devestated if I met someone and they were like you don’t look like your photos I’m not interested, so won’t put myself in that position.

This. Expect pics to be taken from flattering angles; who the hell is going to put up a pic of them pissed, with red wine spilt down their top for example?

But a pic should reflect the current version of them at least; whilst some of my pics are up to 5 years old, the vast majority are taken in the last 6 months or so (when I'm actually in better shape IMHO)

The ones that are the oldest are there so that if anyone rejoins the site that I knew from my old profile previously then they'll know it's me? And it's happened a few times now so I find it a good strategy!

We put new pics on all the time, the date on them being posted is usually around a day or two after them being taken, sometimes a couple of weeks but certainly up to date, it only fair and we do expect the same or at least to be privately messaged with up to date pics

To be fair we all like the flattering angle, even more so those of us who are getting older but if you’re going to meet someone, you’re going to be found out.

I’d be more embarrassed if someone thought I didn’t match up to my pics, that they were outdated etc.

We generally avoid those that just have pics taken from above the head down and any that just have filtered pics on their profile, just stick to good old normal pics and you will generally get what you see... Unless old pics of course.

We try not to just take flattering pictures. We are who we are and finding time to arrange meets is hard with kids. We have no problem meeting people and if we aren't for them then that's no problem at all, but we wouldn't want it to be as we had hidden what we look like now from them, that would be pointless.

I like to see the real deal if I can. From above shots normally hide something. Nothing worse than seeing pics from an angle you like the look of then meet them and they look totally different. Very off putting. But there's alot out there who won't send 'normal' pics

I met a guy recently for a social - couldn't see him until a man came up to me who looked vaguely familiar. He agreed later that his photo was from 6 years ago and didn't seem sorry at all but the difference was that in the meantime he had put on about 4 stones in weight. We all go up and down in weight slightly but I think any photos more than a year old should be deleted and new ones added.

I’ve noticed recently from messages I’ve received there is a lot of older men using photos from years ago.

The quality is a big give away usually & the person in the photos age doesn’t usually match that on the profile.

I just wonder what they do in person when someone notices and says “You don’t look like your pictures” are they hoping that we will just carry on anyway since we are there already?

It’s a shit thing to do, no doubt if it was done to them they’d be fuming so they shouldn’t be doing it to others.

We would definately say something straight away. We aren't confrontational in any way but we also roll straight dice. If it were a social we would probably stay and still chat as their personality was enough to get us there in the first place, but anything further would be off the table for sure.

"I’ve noticed recently from messages I’ve received there is a lot of older men using photos from years ago.

If it were a social we would probably stay and still chat as their personality was enough to get us there in the first place, but anything further would be off the table for sure."

I agree.

It’s happened to me before and it gets my back up since they think it’s okay to deceive someone like that.

I’m straight talking and would be telling them in person that they need to update their photos as they wouldn’t like it done to them. There is literally someone for everyone on here so I don’t think there is ever a need to mislead with your photos!

"Happened once where her photos were from very flattering angles. I was a bit miffed

I'm pretty sure people have been disappointed when they met me for that reason .....oh well"

I very much doubt it...Your whole body is on your public gallery, even the lower half of your face? A bit like my approach!

Unless you are a cyclops of course or have outlandishly crazy eyes...That may not go down well.

This has happened to me, his photos were 7 years old and he had failed to mention this before meeting, I didn’t say anything as I didn’t want to be rude but I never met him again. He wasted not only my time, but his own, why people can’t be honest I don’t know, it’s not like they’re gonna get away with it!

So if you meet people who are nothing like what they say do you still go ahead with fun just to be polite or do you politely leave

Or just say You are joking aren’t you

Lol

I use the most flattering pics on my profile, but if I'm meeting someone I make sure they are fully aware of what will be turning up so there's no uncomfortable surprises.

So far this approach seems to be working

I leave.

It’s more the principle of making them know what they’ve done is wrong & it isn’t going to get them what they want.

It also gives me a negative vibe of them and I’m not going to sleep with someone who makes me feel like that!
