We are getting ready to move temporarily (time still unknown ) to an apartment complex.so I have bought him (as we can't currently open windows) a gel cooling mat, a new bed that looks like a minnie kennel, a new carry case and blanket (plus sofa covers for the new apartment)

Well the gel cooling thing arrived yesterday and he initially turned his bloody nose up at it, but if it was something I had bought clothing wise for myself, he would be all over it)

he is lying on it now, however the new bed....he has taken too from the off, does anyone know why their cat has ridiculous and weird habits?

If anyone can think of something I have missed, then please do let me know

My cat will not sleep in any bed I buy her but will sleep on the diet in the neighbours front garden!

I don’t have one but tonight I’m sat eating dinner with the patio door open and in strolls one of the local cats. He’s always hanging around and he’s very cute and friendly. He wasn’t for leaving though, he had to be evicted. He then sat staring at me with sad eyes through the patio doors

Not far away

My cat is not interested in any of the cat beds I've bought him.

Place a magazine, piece of A4 or a large envelope on the floor though and within 2 seconds, he appears from nowhere and curls up on it.

As for attempting to wrap presents with him around, you may as well forget it.

Cats have a mind of their own. We have just adopted a cat, that had 3 kittens in our garden. We just let her do as she pleases

They are strange little things!

Mine are the same, they hate everything I buy them and want to use all my things to sleep on until they eventually try it out!

Currently my male cat has a habit of bringing in caterpillars as presents!!! Whilst my female cat is being a little whore and taking forever to come inside at night!

Gotta love em

Mine would use a new bed for maybe a week or so and then refuse to go in it ever again Used to just laze in random locations, including the log basket sometimes. Getting in & out the cat carrier was usually a multi-person job as try as you might, all of the limbs refused to get in at one time.

As she has lived under a hedge for weeks, with her kittens, she wants to get in enclosed spaces, so she goes under the spare bed, behind the washing machine or in the pantry up the corner!

Mine are arseholes. They "allow" me to live with them just as long as i dont want any personal space. There all demanding, needy attention seekers.

Think the only thing i have to do in my life is pet cats. I dont remember the last time i sat down without at least 2 cats on me. As for going to the bathroom on my own i said goodbye to that years ago.

I wouldnt change it for the world

I'm not allowed pets where I live (unfortunately ) but my parents cat is just bizarre.

She has taken over one of my mum's blankets as her own (ignored the beds they got her) which has to be clear of everything. It is next to Dad in the evenings. She won't get up on her own, but has to be invited up. Then she nibbles his fingers if he's not stroking her in the right place.

She loves being stroked through the banisters - either when you are on the ground floor and she is on the stairs or you are on the stairs and she's on the landing.

We've also had a number of cats that like their tail being pulled - as in it's like they use it to stretch their spine or something. I've not known any other cat that likes it, but all three of our previous cats (plus their current one) have loved it.

Our cat crystal wakes us up every morning at 8 am, waits for us to make the bed and vacate downstairs. Then proceeds to make herself comfy and go to sleep.

Oh lord.

My mum was trying to get her cat to stop scratching her old sofa last year so she bought the cat all sorts of scratching posts which she hardly looked at twice. The only one she paid attention to was a horizontal wedge shaped one... which she would scrunch herself up on the lie down on it.

Well, that's us moved into the temp accommodation yesterday, the little shit who is normally so passive tried to beat me up yesterday whilst trying to get him into his carrier box that it took over 15 mins. He was only in it for about 15 minutes but refused to come out of it for at least 7 hours!

I got up this morning to find him cowering behind a sofa, which I understand, but he hadn't eat, drank or pee'd until this afternoon, even though I laid out his favourite tin of tuna.

I knew he would be unsettled and tried my best to make things as easy as possible but failed miserably.

He is only just looking around the apartment trying to take things in and finding his bearings, but who would have thought it would have taken over 36 hours, even though he is walking around looking like a little old man who has sh*t himself despite me trying to assure him it was just me and him here.

He is a funny little thing I will admit and I do look at him and laugh as he starts to relax little by little but now I am already bloody dreading trying to get him back home, and used to the new smells that will be there in our absence, as the whole place will be redecorated, any help or tips will be appreciated so we don't have to go through this whole saga again!

Plus I am dreading him turning into the little shit again trying to force him back into is carry case, I may need to look for some body armour in the interim

My cat is the same. Not sure how i havent wrapped him up yet. And dont get me started on the amount of paper i go through because he thinks its play time

Ive given up with him and the cool mat as he has shown no interest, until it is on the bottom of my bed where ny feet are and then he lays all over it and my feet.

Well the new soft case that was advertised as large (but wasn't, was a bloody waste of money) if anyone has a kitten or chawowa (I know spelling but can't be arsed looking it up) and wants it, let me know lol

Next time I think I will just try and blind side him, his old carry case came to the rescue so I will be sticking to that for now and hope for the best

Lol made me laugh but mine has never done anything like that.

Mac's grandad is quite wary of cats as his other 'grandchildren' are quite vicious and their mum ended up in hospital because one got caught in a cat fight and she intervened, Mac is a ragdoll and quite placid but as a house cat he doesn't like all this upheaval and trying to get him to relax is proving quite hard work, but he is getting there

I’d bet a domestic cats heritage hasn’t seen a snake in a couple of decades. Is nature and inherited instincts that strong?

Either way, bloody funny! Although it doesn’t always work.

Aah they sound lovely. Molly had kittens very young, think she is only a year old now, so she is doing kitten stuff She is mainly white with black patches and a black moustache. She always seems hungry, is that a cat thing? I think she had to scavenge for food, maybe that is why she is so demanding?

I have a Bengal called Pablo he’s my baby, but he’s not very affectionate, he pleases himself, he’s very clever and from a young age he figured out how to get outside from an open window (upstairs)

I’ve just got a new kitten and Pablos not amused atall, where as the new kitten (Escobar) thinks pablos a great play mate , it’s funny to watch as Escobar will push and push until Pablo has enough and shows him who’s boss .

Yes that was done by the cat's protection league, they asked if we would keep her and I couldn't resist her...the kittens have also been rehomed. I'm always tempted to give her more, but I know that would be wrong. She weighed 5 pounds when we had her 4weeks ago, she is now 7 pounds.

"Everytime im on the phone my little black one tries to eat it. I was just on the phone to jay and "daddy" has to speak to her. She was sat on the headboard. He started making loud silly noises so she jumped straight onto the phone attacked it and ran off

I love these tales.I am a new cat owner. Molly is so funny at night. She sleeps with us,so she paws me for about 30 minutes then play fights me, she is now sitting on the window sill ive got 4. 1 is tiny and black girl. 1 is fluffy calico girl. 1 is pure white bigboned boy. 1 is fat cat big tuxedo girl and all have their own personalities

Aah they sound lovely. Molly had kittens very young, think she is only a year old now, so she is doing kitten stuff She is mainly white with black patches and a black moustache. She always seems hungry, is that a cat thing? I think she had to scavenge for food, maybe that is why she is so demanding?what does she have to eat? It could possibly be because shes not used to food being there

I give her two wet food pouches and a little dried food, each day. I think you're right, she had her kittens in our garden and had to find food for herself and then feed her kittens.well your giving her plenty. She might grow out of it. Have you had her neuted

Yes that was done by the cat's protection league, they asked if we would keep her and I couldn't resist her...the kittens have also been rehomed. I'm always tempted to give her more, but I know that would be wrong. She weighed 5 pounds when we had her 4weeks ago, she is now 7 pounds."

she probably needed feeding up. I sponser the cats protection league nice to know where my money is going

Diamondsmiles, do you ever go away and if so, what do you do with your cats? We have a holiday in a few weeks and a neighbour has offered to feed her, she will be staying in the garden, the cat, not the neighbour

They are cute. I got up the other day and Escobar (kitten) will usually be at the end of my bed but he wasn’t, checked usual places and couldn’t find him, then I could hear a muted miaow, searching everywhere I located her to the cupboard in the kitchen!! My son had came in and got crisps out the cupboard and kittens being kittens she dived in for a nose, he said he couldn’t get her out and left her there and would try get her out in ten mins but forgot

Poor thing

Although we are animal lovers, we have never had pets because we find them tieing, but when she turned up, we felt sorry for her..some b***\\d had dumped her pregnant, in our village and she made her way to ours, whilst we were on holiday, my brother found her here.

Well Mac now seems to be a bit more settled as spread out on the wooden floors (I have carpets) he's finished his new tuna and seems content.

But during the time before moving he did get locked out for 30 minutes as he snuck out the front door and neither I nor my dad noticed until he said, where's Mac as he is Grandads boy lol and lo and behold opened the door and in he strolled quite calmly which came as a shock to me, as I thought he would have been completely panicked

So today, Molly climbed 15 feet onto our workshop. Happily walked around the roof, then was squealing because she couldn't get down! Launched herself off the roof, into a pile of flowerpots....she survived

I love cats, we looked after my ex,s kitten and tried to keep him in for a few days to adjust. A pure escspologist and he jumped out the bedroom window, no harm done but chased my cat all round the garden and frightened all the ducks.

Well! What can I say? I am currently in temp accommodation whilst my property is being repaired and only been here since Wednesday (have a fair few weeks to go)

The little bugger only woke me up early this morning because he started climbing up a SMALL old fashioned fireplace and chimney. Why the fuck he decided to do that is beyond my comprehension and is totally against character!

He is now looking more ragamuffin than ragdoll. I really can't deal with any more at this moment in time

Not far away

I'm an animal lover, and I love cats, why wouldn't I?

They are fantastic, animals and make great pets.

The fact is though, because they have a somewhat aloof nature and are generally very independent, people seem to credit them with far more intelligence than they deserve.

A dog in comparison, is less independent and generaly has a strong desire to please its owners.

Many people see this as cats having superior intelligence over dogs.

far be it from me to turn this into a cat versus dog debate but the fact is, cats are quite often batshit crazy and pretty dim.

So we shouldn't really be too surprised, when they do stupid things.

(Just to be clear, I have a cat, he does stupid things. He really isn't very bright but I love him none the less)

I used to have a cat that would lick my eyelids until I woke up and fed him. He always knew when I was faking because he'd lick my nose instead

I love cats, I'm currently chief servant to 5 of them, but give a lot to those I can't personally home.

Aah, I love these cat stories and well done you. We had our first present the other day, she brought in a dead gold finch she hadn't killed it herself but took it in our bedroom to play with it, feathers everywhere! That is the only downside of having a cat, we don't want her killing birds

Aah, I love these cat stories and well done you. We had our first present the other day, she brought in a dead gold finch she hadn't killed it herself but took it in our bedroom to play with it, feathers everywhere! That is the only downside of having a cat, we don't want her killing birds "

Only 2 of my 5 are, or should I say were, prolific killers until I discovered Hi-Craft Liberator cat collars - a very small lightweight ultrasonic gadget. Very effective, and under a tenner on thee Bay.

"I'm an animal lover, and I love cats, why wouldn't I?

Our cat has us wrapped around her paw...she knows what time it is when she jumps on our face at 5 in the morning, because she wants her breakfast

That's interesting, does it warn the birds?

There’s a old saying and I can’t remember it but it’s something along the lines of “ a dog will lay down with its owner and die, a cat will lay and eat the owner to survive “. Cats are clever

I wish I still had my little Bailey

I lost him last November and have never thought about replacing him cos I can’t

I still love reading these cat stories and yes they have their little aloof moments but we still love them and spoil them

It’s when they leave us it hurts like hell

Cats are in charge, make no mistake. They'll keep you around so long as you're useful to them and once you stop being so, they'll move on....assuming they haven't eaten your undiscovered corpse first, ruthless swines!

Oh cats are Definatly the boss of the house _amiss

But still love their snobbiness

They are no trouble....very lovable when they want to be and just lovely to be around

I’ve been a cat lover since I was little and always had them

There’s nothing better than a cat purring on your lap

Xxxxx

You have captured it completely. We weren't planning to have a cat, but it is so comforting when she cuddles up between us on the sofa and on the bed xxx

"Mine are arseholes.

I wouldnt change it for the world "

This is perfect.. made me giggle. I have a dog that thinks my whole exsistance is to rub her belly

I had 2 cats that followed me everywhere.. i rescued them and they were really shy. But with loads of spoiling i realised they became my shadow. Me and my stepdaughter uaed to take them for walks where they woukd follow us. Never known a cat to go out their territory before

Well unbeknown to me, a cleaner turned up whilst I was at work. So when I came home he was absolutely no where to be seen

After much searching and panic I found the little shit well and truly lodged up the chimney I thought I had already blocked off!

He is now banned from the bedroom until I am confidently 100% sure that he can no longer get access!

I will say he no longer looks like the lovable Ragdoll that he normally is as he is covered in soot and sulking behind the sofa

Spent the last couple of days at my parents with my mum and dads cat telling exactly how mistreated she is, unloved, unfed etc....

* I would just like to point out that they do not mistreat her in any way shape or form!

My Own Little World

I miss my cuddly cat, he was hit by a car earlier this year. He was the only one of my cats who liked to snuggle

The 2 I have left, well lets put it this way, I am currently typing this with puncture wounds in my hand. The little shit came and sat beside me, something he never does, so I mistakenly thought he wanted stroking. He uses the house like a café, comes in, eats then fecks off again.

The other one is the laziest cat I have ever known, barely moves all day, goes out when it gets dark and comes home 2 days later.

May have to talk hubby into getting another moggy, one that likes attention.
