I have done Nights for close on 30 yrs. When you only have 1 night off between different Night shifts, I find the only way to cope is not to fight your body clock. Stay with the normal timetable as best as you can.

If you fight it, you will make yourself far more tired in the long run!

I’m on a run of 16 night shifts in a row. Tonight being my fourth. This is due to a combination of short staff issues plus colleagues on holiday and sickness. I’m a terrible sleeper aswell. I work 6-6 shifts so I get home by about 6.30 in bed by 7. I’m awake no later than 12 as I just cannot sleep. In my normal pattern I work 6 on 3 off. 6 days 3 off 6 nights 3 off.

Make a brew, have a sit in the garden, enjoy the night sky...and think of the poor fuckers at your work

Oh and you used to get an extra £50 if you did a Saturday and £60 on a Sunday

No night pay at our company. Say they can't give is as its the "nature of the job".

Talk about a bullshit excuse!

Then housemates knocking on my door during the day to ask for a " fiver, till tomorrow"!

On the other hand, I like nighttime, everything's quieter but more interesting.

Worked shifts that incorporated nights for 38 years and never really had issue

I'm sure a lot depends on the type of work . . But for the last year I've been part-time days only.

It's great
