Do you tbink people should pay for what they use on the UK?

Everyone pays basic tax then...

Unhealthy lifestyle? More tax for health.

Drive a lot? Pay more.

Etc etc etc.

Don't assume you know my opinion!

We do already to a certain point, no?

Drive more and you pay all the tax on fuel.

Tobacco, alcohol, and sugar tax.

Imagine for a moment that you had to design a tax system before you were born.

You have no idea about what kind of family you were being born into, what your skills or opportunities would be, what your education would be, or even where in the country you were going to be born.

I think I'd probably design something similar to what we have.

The richer pay more tax, both in percentage and actual terms.

The poorer pay less tax, but still pay some as their contribution.

And the really poor don't pay any and rely on the help from those above.

Seems to be pretty fair if you think you could have been born into a completely different environment.

Oh, and VAT covers the 'more tax the more you use it' argument

They should abolish all separate forms of taxation and just take a lump sum from everyone's salary each month!

Paisley

Taxed enough thank you. It’s becoming a nanny state dictating how much sugar, alcohol, fat, etc we should be consuming.
