"Loads of Northern Soul nights in Sheffield still
My fave is Do I Love You by Frank Wilson "
One of mine too. I’m lucky enough to live in Blackpool where Northern Soul is very much the life and soul.

It's very particular to Manchester and even then only bits of Manchester, being a reddish lad I remember it well.

Particular to Manchester? Am sure those that went to the Wigan Casino back in the day would disagree (not to mention all the other Northern Soul clubs across the country!!) |

You should look up a film called Northern Soul with Lisa Stansfield (acting not singing) excellent music and really captures the era |

Jee....there are so many of them. Despite my user name being a well known AC?DC song, all I listen to these days is Northern Soul.
Here are top ten dancers:
TEMPESTS/SOMEDAY
BOBBY PARIS/NIGHT OWL
TOMANGOES/I REALLY LOVE YOU
OHIO PLAYERS/LOVE SLIPPED THROUGH MY FINGERS
BABY WASHINGTON/LEAVE ME ALONE
DUSTY SPRINGFIELD/STAY AWHILE
VOLCANOS/STORM WARNING
SAME DEES/LONELY FOR YOU BABY
DON GARDENER/CHEATIN' KIND
FOUR CHAPS/TRUE LOVERS
Time to get the talc out and have a spin around...

I watched a BBC4 documentary on Elvis this evening where I learned that he modeled his vocal style on this guy. Fantastic record! |

"There's a brilliant TV film called Coast To Coast with Lenny Henry playing a Northern Soul/Motown DJ that's worth watching if you can find it anywhere"
Got it on video, had the late great Pete Postlethwaite in it as well |

We’ve been to few northern soul nights in recent years, a very memorable one at Wolverhampton racecourse where we met some very, very friendly people!

Oh I most certainly do! I used to go up to Stockport Town Hall with a lady friend (I lived in Suffolk). went to other gigs but that was mega ...
My all time favourite was the original version of 'Shake!' by Sam Cooke (who wrote it). A shade slower than Redding's version but better for it.
