So I’ve just started getting paid on a 4 weekly cycle! It sucks!
But I have a conundrum....
With a 4 weekly cycle, you get 13 pay days,
But In a year, you only pay 12 installations of bills, so where does the 13th pay day go? You can’t just take it fully out of the bank.. you will need it to pay the next cycle of bills before the next payday |

Being paid every 4 weeks is a major bitch
Your direct debits always come out on the same date every month so you have to budget and leave money in the bank to cover them when your pay doesn't coincide.
I've been in my current job nearly 3 years and I struggle to be organised and make sure my bills are paid.
My first job after leaving school was 4 weekly pay and I still struggled to budget properly after 10 years! |

I know it’s a twat!! I’ve just gone over from weekly after 10 years and everyone keeps going on about the “extra payday “ as There’s 2 in aug, but u still need that second one to pay for Septembers bills! |

Forward plan, keep an eye on your balance and what transactions are pending.
I've gone from 4 weekly pay to weekly and I love it, the bank balance always looks ok coz it's spread out. Just have to remember not to spend it!! |

Me and my husband both get paid 4 weekly (and on the same day) and we get a ‘free’ pay every year |

Monthly or four weekly? "
Oh I used to get paid the last working day of every month. The same amount each time. Brutal |

I used to get paid every fourth Monday, it actually works out that you get one payday in a year without having to pay your bills. You only get your bills 12 times a year but you get paid 13 times. |

I think four weekly is much easier to manage than monthly or weekly.
I guess it's just what you get used to.
We used to use our extra pay for our holiday. |

I think I was the 28th of each month. Supposedly it was all balanced out to account for 5ish week months but it never felt right. |

No you dont, not if your bills are paid at the end of the month. You’d get paid again in September before they were due again. |

So if you got paid daily you'd get 353 pay days without having to pay your bills? |

"No all my bills are spread out through the month as I used to get paid weekly
Change the dates with the bank"
i prefer monthly pay I have budget spreadsheet showing in an outgoings, I have majority of dd payments changed to 1at of month I get paid on 28th so know few days after payday all bill paid except a few odd ones.
I always manage cash so never get low and know when cut off silly spends etc |

Get two bank accounts - one gets your pay in and one takes the bills out. Everytime you get paid put what your bills cost (plus a little extra into your other account).
Whatever is left over in you pay in account is yours to do as you wish. Choose wisely. |

I've been paid weekly, fortnightly (when I was on the dole !) monthly and four weekly and a couple of times I've not been paid at all !!
Four weekly was good, once used to it and budgeted properly and as others have pointed out, you get a free month of no bills
But out of it all ..... it's just never enough however it comes ! |

I haven't been paid weekly since I was 20, you just learn to budget and make it last. It gets easier as you climb the pay scale and are earning more than you spend and so have a nice rainy day fund building up. |

My son gets paid weekly. What I suggested to him was to have a separate account for all of his direct debits and to work out how much he needs to put in every week to cover them. Plus he should keep a bit extra in there so there's never "not enough".
Then he pays his weekly amount in and the DDs take care of themselves.

"Isnt it easier to say monthly?
No because 4 weekly isn’t monthly, with 4 weekly pay you get paid 13 times a year rather than 12" .
I used to have maths problems myself but I stated fining myself 50p for each mistake, I've got £12,78 saved up now |

"Draw up a budget. Don't get caught out by an early December payment and a normal January payment.
O that ones a bitch. 6 weeks till pay day and smashed broke "
4 weekly here, prefer it. With a staggered pay in Dec e.g. 2wks, 3wks and 5wks is it true you pay more tax on those? |
