I'd go into one, say you don't want to check in until later, but could you leave a bag meantime?
I often do that when I land up somewhere before the check-in time.
You just have to keep your fingers crossed it is a different person on the desk when you go back and say: "I left a bag earlier - can I collect it please."
Or, if it's the same person, say you actually need it for the job you're doing, but you'll be back later to check in.
