WEEK THIRTY-ONE!!!

MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug

.

.

.

Hey lovely Fab Crap Runners!

It's Week Thirty-one!!!

.

.

.

How is everyone doing?

.

.

.

EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:

EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).

From 1st January, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.

.

.

.

FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:

"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.

.

.

.

FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:

Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.

.

.

.

AND FINALLY:

Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress.

Good morning everyone!

Another new week.

I'll sort out a poll for a FCRC social later. So please keep a look out for that

Weather is a bit cooler, so no more excuses for not getting out there and running/walking/chasing pugs.

Have a fab week everyone

Actually looking forward to the next run which distance wise I did this morning

Ouch my legs are hurting today. Always do the next day. Hopefully pain will go before tomorrow

Anyway plan is to do a 18 min 2.5km that will allow me to get used to doing time

How nice to run in the cool tonight with a fresh breeze. 8 mile run/walk in 1:42. Make the most of it everyone!

No specific short term target for me, but medium term I want to be 20 lbs lighter and comfortably running 50 mile weeks by Christmas, with 16 mile LSR.

An easyish weekend for me. I listened to sensible advice/overslept and missed park run and then took the 10km I was doing yesterday quite easy jogging round with my girlfriend in just over an hour. Another rest day today to see off the remnants of the cold and back on it tomorrow.

Oh and it's payday tomorrow so I'm signing up for a track marathon next year!

I mean laps. 104 monotonous laps of a running track. For no other reason than it's a fucking ridiculous idea

I've considered doing one of those. I have a feeling I would lose count of how many laps I did though!

I’m glad that it’s a bit cooler even though I love the heat. I went out last night for my long run and it was so much easier in the cooler evening. My third half marathon in 4 weeks and by far my easier one, even with 230 metres of elevation!

I;m hoping it won't be! A friend did one last year and said it;s differemt., the course is monotonous but supporters and feed statuon is never more than 200 metres away.

There's an option to run it as a 6 hour ultra but I;m not quiote that stupid!

Went out late this evening for my first run since 16th june.

My first 7k in fact. Middle section across a bridleway on very uneven hard ground in the semi-dark slowed me right down but completed in 41 minutes 47 seconds.

Very chuffed.

I don't think there would be that much difference between me running a marathon and running for 6 hours!

After a lack of communication from my club saw me go to the wrong meeting place tonight, a steady 2.75 miles completed.

The upside is that I didn't have to do the hill session

I’ve not done any running this week whilst on holiday. Holiday food, booze and inactivity will need to be addressed once I’m back. I have played in the pool with the kids but my pulse rate hasn’t been adequately challenged. Well done everyone who has got some runs in during the break from the heatwave.

After getting up to half marathon distance I decided to cut it right back to a quick 5k, followed by a 8 then 10k, untill my half marathon training program kicks in again.. Do have a Localish hilly 10k, so going to see if I can get under the hour for it

Sounds like you need to slow your pace for running. As above, it depends on what your pain is?

Puts a lot of impact (your full weight) on your joints whereas the bike takes all that. Make sure you have the right footwear with the right support and build up the speed and distance to build up the supporting muscles

2.35km in 15 mins this evening same pace as Tuesday but less time.

Still need to loose some kg before really stepping in to the 20 mins plus zone. (Side note smashed 6km in 15 mins on bike and 1km in 5mins on rowing machine after that)

So I can feel my fitness is coming back.

I love it over there. I've done the half from Uxbridge to Watford a few times and like you Watford to to Berko which is a lovely stretch but this was the first time doing the stretch from Leighton Buzzard, definitely going to do it again as it's so open, other than Tring hardly saw another person
