it's actually a good question!
The human race has interfered with evolution due to scientific/medical advances etc. If it had been left to "survival of the fittest/cleverest" etc. - the idiots would have been extinct by now - as it is they all live in a town near me  |

it's quite a slow process - and there are many different species of monkey - not all will become human - just as you still have turtles, crocodiles etc |

Its been a long standing ambition of mine to become a village idiot, does anyone know of any vacancies  "
We currently have one, but he's knocking on now.
He's quite a hard act to follow though, he spends hours at my door talking to my dog, brings fresh fruit and veg up to 3 times a day as early as 7am. He also brings random items for Hubby to repair from spades to rotavators. He plays football out on the green with the kids. He shouts monkey and over exaggerates his laugh at the very top of his lungs to a nuisance neighbour over the road, plus a whole heap of other taunts I've yet to make my ears understand. He also tells some wonderful tales that are pure fantasy.
He's actually really quite a gem. |

How can they possibly know that from a dig? I don't understand archaeology at all. I know they can figure out e.g. if dinosaurs ate plants or meat but how can they know if they communicated with each other. |

Evolution doesn't make just one step at a time in one direction. There are many dead ends and many forms of optimization. Some things came along before their time and may get lost and others potentially too late to have been around at the most ideal point. Variety is good and evolution just needs fitness for purpose, not Einsteins on every corner who are unemployed . |

Hypothetically? So you find several sets of hominid bones in close relation to each other. Hominid A has evidence of a badly broken tib and fib that would have crippled them until it set - or maybe the osteoarchaeologist surmises that the limb would never have been workable again. Nevertheless the evidence from the bone accretion round the fracture site suggests they lived for ten to twenty years after the fracture. Obvious conclusion, someone was feeding and protecting the hominid that couldn't feed and protect itself. |

I dont think we will ever evolve any further, I think we have gone as far as we can go because we evolved over millions of years to survive in this ever changing world but now we change the world to suit ourselves. There are still monkeys and shit like that because they are perfectly evolved and suited for their own environment but scientists have pretty much all agreed that they have now entered the stone age as they no longer learn to use tools as they are born with the knowledge, where a pack of monkeys were living in the jungle we found tools that our caveman ancestors once used and some photographer captured a monkey spear fishing with a spear it made itself. |

No, we invent jobs for them because we're scared of having any more of them sat around unemployed. We'd get machines to do their jobs easily.

To solve this problem we need a mass extinction event.... nuclear war , asteroid hitting the earth , or another great plague....
This way we can start over with only the strongest and brightest people....

The human race has interfered with evolution due to scientific/medical advances etc. If it had been left to "survival of the fittest/cleverest" etc. - the idiots would have been extinct by now - as it is they all live in a town near me
There's archaeological evidence that some of the earliest humans cared for adult family members who were unable to care for them selves. They had empathy and compassion.
How can they possibly know that from a dig? I don't understand archaeology at all. I know they can figure out e.g. if dinosaurs ate plants or meat but how can they know if they communicated with each other. "

I believe the archaeological evidence also shows that many of those people got left behind if the tribe needed to move. Compassion has always had limits. |

In this thread now we have individuals at various stages of personal evolution. The logic that defines our actions evolves through our lives, if we develop those capabilities. However as evolution is a spectrum, we will always have individuals at varying stages and each of us still has the capability to act as an idiot, just some can choose not to from time to time. |
