Was in the supermarket earlier and on the magazine shelves were lots of those celebrity magazines, with female celebrities on the beach, with headings like ‘Worst beach bodies’. etc with photos of women in bikinis.
It’s a fucking disgrace that this is allowed to go on, there shaming women just for owning a body, it’s gotta stop !
Do you think they should be regulated ?

Unfortunately those type of heading and pics are what sell magazines/papers, it's similar to clickbate. If people stopped buying those type of mags then they'd not publish them in the first place. Although society is shocked by this, there's still enough buying it for the publicists to keep churning it out |

Yes but it doesn’t just happen in magazines. It’s all over the place wherever you look. It’s on tv, it’s talked about on the radio and it’s online. People are doing it to themselves all of the time and quite possibility a lot of it in younger ones is an awful lack of self esteem and confidence and learned responses from seeing all of this.
But
The world is totally polluted, everywhere you turn.
I think regulation would be difficult although I’m not saying I’m against it. I think we also need to concentrate on education.

Sadly... don't know if anyone uses Snapchat here. But you go on stories and it's all photo shopped bullcrap daily which is fed to insecure girls and horny teenage guys. But what's worse is you can now see random stories of people and I swear to god every single one is a girl who is over filtered, under eating and busting out of their tops which tbh... Just makes things worse as these are meant to be 'regular' women. It's a scary time. I love a curvey women any day. Confident and cuddly |

There have been a few body shaming men over the years
usually ex athletes or professional sportsmen that have spent most of their adult life watching their weight, but weight on when they no longer compete
to be shamed by some fat photographer hiding I n a bush somewhere. |

The media for years has been portraying stick thin models as the perfect bodies even though for the vast majority of women it’s an unobtainable target. And anyone that doesn’t fit into the body beautiful bracket is made to feel second best. No wonder young girls have so many issues x |

There are several young women in their early 20's where I work who have had work done - lip fillers, nose jobs, boob jobs.
And the amount of make up and hair extensions is overwhelming 
None of them need it - being young is beautiful!

Oh fuck !! Imagine letting some greedy quack near your face with a knife !! Makes me shudder . I've read and seen some horror stories and saw a very dodgy clinic established here , grow a clientele , go bust and leg it and leave a lot of messed up customers . |

I remember a programme on tv where a group of 15/16 year olds were given markers and asked to circle what was wrong on the bodies of two naked models.
After they stopped giggling they became serious and identified the "flaws". The guys thought the woman's breasts were too saggy, she had pubic hair, thigh too big, hair dull etc.
The girls thought the man's dick too small, too hairy, no six pack or Adonis belt etc.
They were disbelieving when it was revealed what they were looking at were normal, healthy bodies: nothing wrong with them at all.
We are bombarded with pictures of 60 year olds with faces and bodies of 30 year olds with nubile much younger partners and believe it's the norm.

If ppl pedal shite then it'll been seen as what it is by the public, if it's that wrong then I guess magazine sales will fall.... Does anyone even buy magazines these days? I think we give them too much attention, if we treated them for what they are then sales would fall even further....
We're getting too good at making stories out of stories in this country, it's a shame....

Who knows, I started this thread 37 weeks ago, Doris bumped it for some reason, but These magazines are predominately aimed at women for women by women, most men don’t take any notice and probably don’t care what other men look like."
Have you not seen the entire section of mens "health" magazines focused on exactly the same thing.
"Hugh jackmans, wolverine workout" etc.
Body image issues are now a major problem for young men.
Especialy as they're peddled a "do this work out and you'll look like this!" Line by a chemically augmented model that they really wil never be able to match without the same |

That’s men’s health magazines, which are aimed at men trying to get in shape, so of course they are going to show ripped blokes. The magazines I’m referring to predominantly show female celebrity’s out and about on there days off, looking like normal women but they pick fault with cellulite etc. Yes, they’ve do it to men too, but no way near as much.
The fact there’s a market for this type of thing is slightly bizarre and sad. |

All the magazines are as bad as each other!
They all say you must look a certain way one week then say something else the next week.
One thing I haven't seen is a 'curvy men' body positivity campaign. There's some for women to get more curvy models in fashion magazines and on runways but I've never seen one for men. |

That's a good point, I've never seen that either.
Men do feel pressure about how they look. I know men with body issues at both ends of the scale. As in 'too skinny' or 'too fat' (their words). |

I think it should be regulated however it’s not only magazines that body shame, a great majority of the users on fab are also guilty. I have seen profiles on here of women who shall I say politely aren’t no oil painting and yet the demand this and that, you all know the sort I’m on about. Then there’s the ageist demands too. I’m surprised anyone over 30 and carrying a few extra pounds has any fun at all. |

It’s a fucking disgrace that this is allowed to go on, there shaming women just for owning a body, it’s gotta stop !

Who knows, I started this thread 37 weeks ago, Doris bumped it for some reason, but These magazines are predominately aimed at women for women by women, most men don’t take any notice and probably don’t care what other men look like.
Have you not seen the entire section of mens "health" magazines focused on exactly the same thing.
"Hugh jackmans, wolverine workout" etc.
Body image issues are now a major problem for young men.
Especialy as they're peddled a "do this work out and you'll look like this!" Line by a chemically augmented model that they really wil never be able to match without the same
That’s men’s health magazines, which are aimed at men trying to get in shape, so of course they are going to show ripped blokes. The magazines I’m referring to predominantly show female celebrity’s out and about on there days off, looking like normal women but they pick fault with cellulite etc. Yes, they’ve do it to men too, but no way near as much.
The fact there’s a market for this type of thing is slightly bizarre and sad."
Women LOVE putting other women down so theres a market for that.
Men seem to prefer bigging themselves up so theres less of a market for it |

It was more about these people not feeling " beautiful " enough so they got surgery.
