Woman who reversed into me

Driving on a country lane on Wednesday and stopped behind a Silver Polo to discover that we all have to reverse to let the tractor pass.. the lady in the silver polo who first reversed into the bush and then my car & didn’t even leave her contact details! Just putting it out there that my bumper is damaged and if you are reading this please get in touch as I’m royally pissed!

I suspect if you'd said "a driver" reversed in to you and not made the sweeping generalisations about women drivers the responses would have been different.

A guy nearly drive into the back of me in a traffic queue because he was reading his paper while slowly rolling forwards. He shouted at me for stopping!

If you have her number plate, then contact the DVLA and obtain her details and pay the small fee. You have a legitimate reason for requesting them, and they should be released to you.

You can claim the cost of the bumper repairs from her.

You can also report her for failing to stop after an accident.

OP it wasn’t right that she didn’t stop to talk to you about it. I’ve been hit (by a man as it happens) and he drove off ... and he wasn’t insured. It’s pants when it happens.

But just so you know. I always choose to reverse into parking spaces, I parallel park every day and I have never hit a thing. I can definitely reverse.

you sound like me. I currently have a stupid gap to get into daily ( moving soon and will have a drive) but I moat certainly can both reverse and drive.

Can we agree that the standard of driving is abismal these days regardless of sexual orientation? People moan about bad driving but more than likely they speed,sit in the overtaking lanes for no reason or cut in. Modern living of no respect for others.

Note; if she drove off then report to the police. Maybe no insurance or licence. Though when you report to your insurance (as you should in your policy no doubt) they may take it up.

Yes. I agree. I sympathise, I really do.

A guy ran in to the back of me at a roundabout. However he claimed that he had a witness who had seen me drive on to the roundabout and reverse back into him. It's absolute rubbish when people do that sort of thing. I don't brand all men as liars because of it though.

I'm sorry your car is damaged and hope you can get it restored to its former glory soon.

I think that you have aired the matter sufficiently on here now. You should leave it, in case you prejudice your case.

Obtain her details from the DVLA. Report her to the Police. Inform your own insurers. Give her details to them. Give your version of events, and the witness statement from your witness to your insurers and they will sort the matter out and reclaim all their costs from her insurers.

I have actually once had to reverse a car for a guy... then come back and reverse mine on a narrow lane near me. A tractor was there and needed us to reverse about 40yards. So not far but the guy got all panicked and couldn't do it.

I've also once had to reverse all the way back down a country road because the guy coming the opposite way couldn't or wouldn't reverse a about 6 car lengths to the passing spot.

Good and bad at everyone.. And I've seen Sabine reverse well

actually there is a reason for this and it's to do with subtle differences between the sexes. And how we developed.

I at uni was found to have a very "Male" oriented brain. The parts of my brain that are dominant are those that they associate with male traits. It means my depth and speed perception is better than some women's. It is not all women and to be fair .. it is pretty equally balanced. As much as history would have us think women stayed at home and looked after the children. There is much evidence to suggest that before we were " civilised" women hunted an fought same as men... it was when we were sent to the kitchen that some of those skills were suppressed.

If anyone wants to look into it search it out at your local big library or Google for the scientific jorunals

She reversed into a car, not sure how the blame can be associated to the car behind.

Nowhere in my post did I suggest that the blame lies with the car behind - obviously the reverser is at fault. I’m just wondering how she fled the scene without a conversation.

1. I was honking my horn

2. Didn’t have enough time to put it in reverse because I couldn’t believe she reversed without looking who’s behind??!!

3. She reversed too fast

And in all honesty if you think it’s my fault, you should give up your driving licence

Why didn’t you follow her if she reversed into you and didn’t get out?

I got out to look at my car and I think Now looking back that hindsight is a great thing
