Last year I got my own place for the first time in my life, between; family home, university, getting married and shared house I’ve always lived with other people.
Whilst the silence sometimes can get to me a little there are positives too. So dear solo fab folk; what do you enjoy about the solo living experience? |

From watching what I want on TV, What I want to eat and when to eat it,
Just doing everything at my own pace, Since moving out of my parents house about 12 years ago I have lived alone, I would probably struggle to share a house now |

Everything!!! Can sleep when I want, only my own stuff to clear and tidy, bathrooms always free, watch whatever I want, come and go without answering to anyone, have as many meets as I want, can leave sex toys in the drainer |

"Without doubt being able to do what I want, when I want. "
Yes, there is that. I had that other places too, no one batted an eyelid in my shared house if was in or out but it’s certainly freeing to never be asked about comings or goings. |

I’m very much enjoying a man free home. It’s not strictly just me as I have the kid but she’s at nana’s so it’s close enough.
I bloody love the cleanliness. The fact that I know the toilet seat isn’t going to be icky and above all ... control of the remote control. It’s like I don’t even have the Dave channel.
Life is good. |

Of course this!
I enjoy not having to clean anyone else's mess or doing anyone else's laundry.
But I miss having someone around to cook for and talk to about my day |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I've lived on my own for 25 years. I doubt I could live with anyone else now.
My home will look messy to others but no-one comes here, so that's fine. I know where everything is and it has its place. The bathroom is as I left it and no one is borrowing things and not telling me. (Actually, that last bit isn't entirely true as people with keys will sometimes borrow things.)

I've done it for six years after being in shared houses for four years before that. I don't think I could go back to living with anyone at all now. I love my own space and being responsible for my own space. |

"Walking around naked "
And I can eat icecream straight from the tub.
I looked at the "Rent a Room" scheme several years ago. At that time it was worth less than £12 a day tax free and definitely not worth the restrictions. It's now worth over £20. Still not enough.

I've lived on my own for 3 years now and I have to switch the lights on in the rooms I'm not in so it actually looks like someone lives here!
Other than that, it just gets sweeter. |

I have one bulb that has not been changed in 25 years.

I lived on my own for 3 years before meeting by ex and we lived together for 4 years and it was good but when we split up I hated living alone again. The silence was deafening and I missed having another human around so I moved into the extension of a house share. I have my own living room, bedroom and bathroom but share a kitchen and it's honestly great. |

I've got the best of both worlds, shared custody of kids with my ex so half the time they're at his, plus I don't live with my current partner so we each get time on our own and time together when we choose.
Thoroughly recommend it. |

That answered the OPs question to a tee. |

All that - and you get 25% off your council tax. |

People would be in my way and an inconvenience. I like lots of space and tranquility - people hamper those.
I enjoy doing everything and the challenges of running a good place. Ongoing clearing of other's mess doesn't appeal. I can suffer my own temporary glitches and it's obvious what I need to do to sort stuff - it could be confused with others each expecting others to do it |

The best aspect for me is not having to modify my behaviour if I'm feeling like a grumpy c*nt. Living with people 24/7 is wearing no matter how much you love them. |

In the days pre-child, when I lived entirely in my own, I loved it. My own space to do what I wanted/who I wanted/when I wanted. No one to please but myself and no fighting over the tv remote.
It did occasionally get lonely. I remember one time getting a phone call with some horrible tragic news, and wishing there was someone to pick me up off the floor and hold me right at that moment, but those times were few and far between.
The only other times I wished I wasn’t alone was when there were massive spiders. However my very good friend Matt used to come round (sometimes in the middle of the night!) and remove them for me. God love him! |

My house is a sports channel free house and other than my 2 cats who keep me in the real world I would never share with anyone else for more than a few days (and certainly not sleep all night with them) |
