No i wouldn’t for the simple reason you may be protected but that’s only as far as getting your money back and not to get your holiday. Those who have booked won’t be out of pocket but there is no point spending ages selecting, arranging time off and booking only to potentially have it cancelled, only a fool would do that. There are plenty of other holiday firms about so choose one of them. |

I haven't used a travel agent / package holiday specialist in years.
I prefer to dig around and tend to buy flights, hotels, car hire seperately.
I will have a closer look at just which online travel sites Thomas Cook owns now though. |

nothing yet but they are having cash flow problems. Those who have booked package holidays are covered but those booking flights or going independently through them are not. They will probably be ok but if you book and they do go under your holiday may get cancelled. |

half true.. and this is going to be the issue... if you have booked a full package holiday you will be covered... if you book flight only you are not...
so now it could turn into a vicious catch 22 where people are not going to book because they are jittery, and thomas cook are not going to be able to service the loans because of the cashflow....
for example... shares in Thomas cook collapsed from 41p to 10p because of the news... gained a bit of that back yesterday of now trading at about 13p.... but TUI (thompsons) shares have risen about 15% because people may well book with them instead....
Thomas cook are in trouble... lets make no mistake about it... they will sell loads of there planes... they will close a lot of their shops... maybe that will stem the flow... |

I have and will continue to always use Thomas cook. Never had anything but fantastic customer services from the girls in the Darlington shop. Even when things went wrong on my holiday (2010 volcanic ash cloud) the manager managed to get me on a flight home using her company discount and connections. I wouldn't have minded spending 8 extra weeks in Canada and north America but work calls lol. They even helped out with the north sea ferry crossings.
I have also found the in resort staff great too. As long as they are the companies own and not like the resort reps.
Big up the darlington Thomas cook crew x |

Nah,not for me i'm afraid but not through choice.
I've been banned for life from thomas cook hols due to a very rowdy lads holiday when I was 19-20
But i'm a lot more mature and respectable these days, honestly! |

We have just returned from Gran Canaria and used Thomas Cook for the flights. No sign of a panic with them.
If you book with your Visa you are protected which is what happened when another company crashed and we lost our flights.
We will continue to use them until advised to the contrary if they are the best deal at the time
