I’m a great cook if I do say so myself.
I had three great teachers my parents & my Nan.
Jamaican food is my speciality of course since my parents are Jamaican it was what I ate mostly and I love it!
I’m trying to be more creative though and cook things I’ve not tried before. I love making a mess in the kitchen! I’m the kind of person who needs the whole kitchen when cooking and if someone comes in & touches anything it’s fight time. |

Would like to think I'm a good cook. I even won some compititions when I was younger my speciality was a Goat Cheese tart on a puff pastry base, with rocket, tomatoes, and other pieces. Used to want to be a chef, but I worked out that i loved eating food, not cooking |

I think I am, but wish I had more time (and money for unusual ingredients) to experiment. I enjoy cooking mostly but of course there's often a big difference between the daily drudgery of making sure the family's fed and the pleasure of creating something spectacular, indulgent and/or technically challenging. Last count I had more than 400 cookery books but most of the time I don't cook from recipes. |

"I'm a decent cook, not a bad baker. I think everyone should learn to cook meals from scratch, things like pasta sauces and soups are so easy."
I think food tech should be mandated all the way through school. We could drop obesity and diabetes levels massively by doing this. Teach kids about food and nutrition and give them the practical skills to implement it. |

I didn't learn to cook properly until my wife died in 2010. I always loved her cooking and then tried to emulate it, it took some time but i got there. Now love cooking a hell of lot and love making changes to see what things taste like. Like you though as well, when i'm cooking, god helps anyone that get's in my way |

Problem is with cooking is shops don’t sell small portions of food.
Went to local Morrison’s to get a small amount of mince got told we sell only what’s on the shelf
For me I don’t mind cooking but can cook a decent stir fry and enchiladas |

Actually he wasn’t paying a compliment. I know Clem, he was indicating that it was because I am a woman and teasing. I thought I’d play it back at him.
But glad you amused yourself getting it even more wrong. |

While it certainly helps, part of the skill of cooking is knowing what's lacking. You can follow a recipe to a t and it won't taste as good because perhaps you've got something weaker or stronger than what the writer was using. That's why tasting your food as you cook is so important. |

Dont go to the supermarkets. Use the local butcher if you are fortunate enough to still have one. They will provide the quantity of meat you require and in my opinion the meat is better too. |

I cook most of ma own food from scratch when I can be bothered, I tend to batch cook and freeze portions. I get a couple of bottles of vino in, put some sounds on and I'm in my element. I have made a fish pie today, which was a bit of a challenge as I am looking after a neighbour's cat for a few days and keeping him off the worktop was fun

I've been using the same butcher for about 20 odd years now, unfortunately he's gonna hang up his cleaver in another 3 years and he's the last remaining one in the Market Hall |

No I’m completely shit at it. I cook virtually every day from scratch, it’s a wonder I haven’t poisoned myself and everyone who eats the crap I throw together. |

No, terrible. My Dad's fault (and my stubbornness)
He's a very good chef and one Sunday, beckoned my sister and I into the kitchen saying he was going to teach us how to cook. I asked why, he say "because one day, you'll have to cook for a man".
I thought, fuck that, turned on my heels and left! If only he'd worded it differently |

From stirfry you can easily make the transition and get into cooking things like Pad Thai. Food is one of the main reasons i have spent half my life travelling |

I'm a really awful cook, there are some dishes that I can make to perfection, especially bolognese based issues, like shepherd's pie, spaghetti bolognese. I have a couple of a signature desserts as well.
All in all though, I would say I'm not a very good cook even though my family will never admit it.
I do do tend to burn a lot of food.

I love to cook. I like to keep it simple and cook a few dishes really well.
Batch cook and meal prep on a Sunday so you have enough healthy meals for the week with minimal effort. Have a gourmet night once a week and pull out all the stops for a new recipe.
I’ve started making my own bread and pasta too. Once you’ve got a good understanding of flavours and what combinations work just mix it up with whatever ingredients are in season. |

I am good at mum cooking, I can feed a family with very limited ingredients, I actually prefer to have a smaller choice of stuff to cook, as long as it is all from scratch stuff. I am pretty good a roast dinner too |
