Harder financial times.
Plus
The fact that the justice systems inability to detect and/or convict criminals has now been so widely advertised in the media.
Sounds like the perfect crime storm to me. Are we on a slippery slope downwards again? Will thing's feel as bad as they did going up in the 90s again? |

There is the potential, and some feel we're already there - although the stats don't suggest that.
There is criticism that London isn't taking the public health approach that Scotland used, particularly for Glasgow. I favour a more holistic approach, which sees this as a public health issue but it requires statutory services to change, so unlikely to happen. It's not a quick fix.
