Ive never been able to work this out. I have americano when im out most of the time unless i have ristretto. Now americano is an espresso with hot water to it. So tell me, why every single place i go, do they ask me if i want milk. Today they didnt even ask me but just put milk straight in it. Surely if you wanted coffee with milk you would order one with milk in and not a black coffee. I dont order a milky coffee and say no milk please
Its definetly an english thing cause when i went to spain and automatically said no milk(because of them asking over here) they looked at me as though i was stupid and said it doesnt have milk in it |

In France if you order a coffe it should come without milk, but is amazing the number of places who add milk because you are English.
I now order cafe au lait or creme and then ask for a large cafe. No probs |

"When I serve an americano, very often customers ask for hot milk with it. "
I like my americanos with just the tiniest splash of hot milk .... was a bloody nightmare in the states - they kept trying to give me this repulsive artificial muck they call creamer - which I suspect might be made from dogs milk.
I would have to explain very slowly that : you-take-the-steamed-milk-you-use-in-a-latte....."Oh I see sir - you'd like a latte not an americano" "NO you-take-the steamed.........."
They'd look at me like I was insane |
