I wait until it's at least the month of Christmas before getting a tree, and a real one for me, can't beat the smell of pine trees in the living room.

I love real, but I decorate my tree with Swarovski crystal so a couple of years ago bought a black artifial one. The snowflakes/stars are hung from black ribbon and I have found lights with black cable.

The tree looks like everything is floating round it.

Mine with go up on the 11th

I never put Christmas decs up - seems pointless for just me and an unnecessary expense.

I just visit plenty of people who do have them to get that Christmas experience

Although I’m not a fan of what Christmas has become in these over commercialised times….

I remember the incredible wonder and excitement I felt as a child in the build-up to Christmas, was made all the better for seeing peoples house’s illuminated with displays of festive joy, whether it was just a tree in the window or a spectacular full on Santa’s grotto in the garden, or even better still a musically enhanced nativity scene complete with kings and shepherds, cows and sheep .

So although I could now easily do without a tree or decoration of any kind . I would like to think the efforts I make now, help young minds feel that magic which is sadly stolen from them, far to quickly……

Up!! Already!! Tis still November!!

We have a real fake tree - two of 'em. One is a spiral tree that hangs from the ceiling, it's quite unique and always draws comments from people who see it each year.

Real ones all the way.

Tip. If they have no roots, cut an inch off the trunk (bottom that is) and put in water, stops them dropping needles.

Just finished decorating mine (although I'll probably spend the next few day tweaking it and changing bits around. I don't do a colour scheme - it's all colours, and very bright and shiney. Had some problems with the lights yesterday but eventually got enough working, including my first ever set of lights which I bought in the NAAFI shop in 1978 when I was 19 years old. I love unwrapping the baubles and decorations - again some of which date back to the late 70's, although my oldest ornament is one my mum passed on to me and has been on every christmas tree I've had.

Now I just have to clear up the mess I've made during the process of putting the tree up

still worth it though

Real tree, mine goes up on my Birthday 13th, it was a tradition when I was growing up, which I carried on and still do even though I am now living on my own, I alternate the colours each year, this year it is going to be pink and silver

We have a 6ft real one in the living room, decorated (by me) in bronze, gold and cream only, with plain small white lights. No tinsel and very 'tasteful' baubles

The children have a 6ft tall fake one in the family room decorated by them (all 4 help) in multicoloured whatever they want stuff with colour changing angel lights with fluffy wings and other multicoloured lights. Total mishmash of colours.

Each of the children then have a fake small (2 -2.5ft) tree in their bedrooms, decorated with small baubles - usually in a colour scheme to fit their room.

Daughter's bday is 11th Dec, so they don't usually go up before then. The ultra tacky huge Christmas lights are going up on the front of the garage on the 3rd though...

This year as we are having our 1st xmas with 2 VERY much loved tinytots we are trying to turn our house into a grotto xxx

I always had a real tree, but after seeing an incredible artificial one in Harrods a couple of years ago, and not being able to afford the ridiculous price tag I have to add, I then saw the same make of tree in a Devon garden centre at a post christmas sale at 75% off the retail price!.....

Snapped it up and last year we had our beautiful artificial tree up for the first time....it is something I really wanted but would never have paid the full price for....
