I prefer a book, there’s something quite lovely about curling up with a good book. It’s easier on the eyes than a kindle as well I find.
I do use a kindle at times on my holidays though. Takes up less space |

"I love the feel and smell of proper book.
Oh so do I Hatter.
Especially the ones from a second hand or charity shop."
Absolutely. They have their own story. I once swapped a book at a villa I was staying in and someone had left a note inside. Only a brief note about what they thought of the book (and their holiday) I loved that and stole that idea. |

I love the look, the feel and the smell of a good book. Digital form just doesn’t do it for me. I can, however, advocate audio books on long drives (though interruptions from the twatnav can wreck the narrative). |

I've never read a book on a kindle. Don't think I ever would. I like seeing how much of the book I've got left to read and picking them from the library or charity shop. Like picking them up and reading the back and the size of the words and things like that. I I sometimes flick back as well x |

Nothing against reading on a screen; I do plenty of that while researching, but given the choice I am a certified booksniffer and page flicker. There's just something more tangible in holding a book. I guess there is something in the aesthetic appeal, too. Plus, it makes a welcome change from screens, you know, mix it up a bit. |

"A proper book.... I like to turn the corners down and even scribble in the margin. "
Some would say that is book sacrilege... I can't bring myself to do that in my own books, on the other hand I've found such marginalia in second-hand books (and library books) can offer interesting insights, is often an eye opener, and on occasion very funny!... |

I prefer hard copy books but have succumbed to the e-book for convenience. I recently started taking hard copy again on hols as I struggle to read on tablet/phone in the sun and books don't run out of charge |

Real books are way more pleasurable, but I like ebooks for convenience and portability.
I love audiobooks too, great for "reading" whilst doing other stuff. |

I agree about audio books. They make ironing bearable. |

After owning upwards of 300+ books stuffed away in various places over the years. Got rid of the lot, bar the obvious reference and picture based large books. Kindle all the way now. |

Hard copy for me. I enjoy swapping books with friends too, they get passed around us all. Plus I love finding great books at carboots for absolute bargains.
Can't beat curling up with a good book and a pot of tea or sunbathing out in the garden with a few chapters. I can appreciate the convenience of the kindle but it's just not for me. Even when travelling I take the real thing. |

Obviously a book is waaaaaay better.
But I've never been done for excess baggage since having a kindle - a few times I got stung on sun/sea/sand type holidays cos I'd take 15 chunky books for 10 days |

I far prefer my Kindle. I find paper books difficult and painful to read.
On my Kindle i change the font to suit me, its lots lighter, it shows how much iv read, it has a light, i can go back and re read bits, the e books are lots cheaper which is great because i read so many, its cleaner, has no "old" smell, its perfect |

I have 100s of paper books but haven't read them for years, since I got my Kindle.
Was reading a series the other week, but 1 of the books I couldn't find online, but could find a print copy. Thought I would struggle going back to a book but 5 minutes in I no longer noticed the difference..... ok I did try swiping to turn the page a couple of times all I missed was the backlight when reading at night. |
