Not so long ago it was linfords lunch box... I heard on the radio today usain bolt has a trial for an Aussie football team and a lady has complained he'll be wearing loose fitting shorts not the skin tight Lycra...
If I'd have suggested a female sports star wear skin tight shorts so I could get a better view of her nether regions there'd have been protestations men see ladies as objects why don't they focus on her sporting skills ..

The general acceptance (for the sake of argument let's assume there is one) that women shouldn't be objectified didn't just come out of nowhere, but by women complaining and making a fuss until the point stuck. Dudes can do the same, if they want to. |

Because elite female athletes aren't anywhere near as good at most sports as elite male athletes. So they are deeply insecure about their status as 'elite athletes'. Elite male athletes don't worry about being taken seriously and hence aren't offended by it. It's imposter syndrome really. |

Yep and because ladies have shouted about it ..it's front page news, questions in parliament etc... not long ago sky sports got rid of two presenters who joked about a female assistant referee needing the offside rule explaining..
Seems everyone can shout about their gender rights and equality and it's taken seriously yet be a straight guy and it's OK..
I didn't say it was ok - I said it was just one of those inequalities, so I was agreeing with you.
I qualified my further remarks to be intended as fun, yet they have offended you. That was definitely but my intention, (hence the footnote about men Vs women) and for that I apologise.
No need to apologise.. I'm not offended and I'm not singling your comment out as being offensive, I quoted the text as it mentioned an inequality (gender pay) and there's been vast amounts written about it.
I only mentioned being 'a straight guy" as recently there's been a lot in the news about LGBT rights etc.
I shouldn't have mentioned the pay gap thing for that very reason - it stirs up shit, and that wasn't my intention either. I should've just used the peeing anywhere thing, because I'm far more jealous of (what I perceive as) that inequality....
