Having a drink on a meet

Morning fabbers, I was curious as to how many of you have a drink when having a meet, social or otherwise ?

I've seen on a few profiles and spoke to a couple of people who don't like drinking when having a meet, for us we would need to have at least a couple to let the nerves go and make ourselves more comfortable, plus we don't get out much because of young kids so when we do we like to make the most of it haha

I'm not talking slurred speach and falling over, Mrs might have 3 or 4 glasses of wine say and I'd maybe have 6-8 pints on a night out, sounds a lot but not for me tbh I would just be merry

Would this put you off a couple even if they where good company and attractive ?

I don't usually drink for a meet but would have a drink or 2 at a Social. I do drink in clubs. As long as someone wasn't rat arsed I would be ok with it.

I meet socially before a meet, but I don’t drink alcohol. I will drink water, hydration is so very important before extraneous physical activities OP

There and to the left a bit

I have absolutely no problem with other people drinking on a meet (so long as it's not to excess) but if it's a sex meet prefer not to drink myself.

3-4 glasses of wine and 6-8 pints??

That's excessive drinking even if it's only once in a while.

It would certainly put me off. 1 or 2 drinks while chatting is fine but then I very rarely drink anyway.

If I was meeting someone who was drinking that much, I'd think they had a problem with alcohol.

Other people's drinking habits is their business not ours, who are we to say how much someone else can drink?

However, depending on how d*unk they are would have an effect on our judgement as to whether we wanted to take things further or not.

If I’m with someone who is drinking more than a couple of pints at a sex meet then a) we’re spending too much time drinking and not having sex b) there won’t be a repeat performance once he’s come, which would be a shame.

But I sometimes drink more than I intend to, especially at socials, so I can’t judge anyone on it. Like you I have young kids, it’s an emotional time and sometimes I need to let rip.

I’m fortunate in that I don’t need the prop of alcohol to do anything and I don’t generally meet people who do.

I’m a bit cagey when it comes to people drinking as my first serious boyfriend turned out to be an alcoholic, so i tend to mentally count how many alcoholic drinks they are having. Whilst i’d not say anything it would probably put me off and i’d not see them again. I realise not everyone is an alcoholic in waiting but it’s just one of thise things for me.

I personally don’t drink on socials as i’m usually driving.

Alchohol and performance isn't a worry I have tbh, I've never failed to rise to the occasion, as for recovery then 5-10 minutes and I'm firing on all cylinders again

Our first play was with friends and certainly wasn't planned and was after a night of drinking, his wife was pleasantly surprised when I was ready to go again after 5 minutes, she said her husband was done for the night after he had finished unfortunately but he seemed happy enough haha

The right place

I like to meet for a drink and see if there is a connection and then ‘take it upstairs’ so to speak.

The last woman I met, we get on so well we almost forget we are there to have sex. But we remembered in time

That's makes sense as you've had a bad experience so would always leave you being defensive and judge people more intently, despite the post above we certainly don't have a problem with alcohol, we wouldn't be able to do our jobs if we did, we get about 4 nights out a year without kids so try to relax and enjoy but want to combine our fab life in with it

Hiding in the shadows

I do like a drink, not going to deny that, but I don't need to drink.

I guess it would depend on the situation, the occasion, the person I was meeting.

I've had socials which were strictly coffee, others we've gone on a night out & had a few bevvies.

I wouldn't get d*unk on a first social/meet though. I'd prefer to keep a clear head, and them the same.

That quantity would put me off tbh.

1 or 2 maybe but 4 glasses of wine is more than a bottle!

How can you judge consent effectively at that point?

I get the steel your nerves thing but I want my wits about me- especially in a club environment.

We've met people who drink a lot and don't take it further. One lady in particular drank so much at a social we had that her partner was getting two drinks at a time for her and eventually just refused to by her any more.

Somewhere / Everywhere /Kinksville

Over the years I’ve done both, but I’ve opted over the last few years to mostly stay entirely sober. I love a drink ordinarily but I don’t find it a good mix when playing and personally speaking, drinking numbs the senses and it’s not so much fun.

Ive also been put off by the amount of d*unk people at clubs. Incoherent, falling down and out of control. Consent to me is a major part and I’m very uncomfortable being around people that can’t limit themselves sensibly. Add on a few club guys that have smelt of stale alcohol and it’s not the scene I like to play in.

So 9 times out of 10 we both drink water only.

I wouldn’t mind if someone wanted a drink or two before playing with me, but I’d never knowingly go with anyone drinking more than a few pints. 6+ pints is way too much for my chosen playmates.

I may have 1 if it is a social. Play meet then no. It's not so much a performance issue.. after 2 or 3 I have no problem getting or maintaining an erection, but I lose sensitivity. A couple more and I can go until it's raw, but I probably won't cum. A couple more than that... I don't want the world spinning while we are in the middle of a 69. After that... I'm no use at all.

I’d a social meet during the day once and he had 5 pints while I had a coffee.

Definitely put me right off him.

If I’m meeting I’m always driving so no alcohol, it also means I can leave, if and when I choose.

If I’m with someone who is drinking, 2 or 3 is fine, after that I think they loose common sense and judgement.

Although I enjoy a drink I do not drink on meets regardless if its a social or playdate. And I prefer the people.Im.meeting not to either although of course the choice is up to them. I would say that if they indulged in more then 1 or 2 this would put me off.

2 reasons... I do play on a first date if the social goes well and time allows. If I thought a person needed/wanted to be merry or tipsy to have a good time I would be concerned.

Also being that a lot of my play involves aspects of kink, alcohol consumption is a silly idea for a huge variety of safety and consent issues!

I get out quite frequently thanks

I also lived with an alcoholic when I was growing up. It gave me a certain respect for the stuff.

I'm with most of the posters on this thread, if you need a drink then why do it?

I also value my driving license and after that much it would probably be a good 24 hours before anyone was legal to drive. But hey we can't all be super her is who aren't affected by alcohol

I have never d*unk over 5 pints in one session in my life, so someone drinking 6-8 pints on a social meet with people they had never met before would seriously put me off.

I would strongly suspect an alcohol problem.

I’m thinking it would be like trying to ride a water bed, being on top of that much liquid

Wow I must admit I didn't think that people would be so quick to judge someone they never met and know nothing about because once in a while they let there hair down on a night out with their wife and drink 6 or 8 pints of beer in a day, especially on a site like this where sex in public places, cheating wives and husbands, taking pics of flashing in public and adding them to profiles etc etc seem to ok not to judge on, or have I logged into mum's.net by accident

I would never and have never judged anyone on this site despite how depraved their antics may seem to me because it's their life to choose to do as they wish

Lots of people here doing long distance diagnoses of drink problems on the basis of quantities consumed. We have a rule - the definition of a drink problem is when drinking means you can't do something you want to, or you do something you don't want to (or regret). Quantity consumed is irrelevant.

As someone said above informed consent matters and intoxication makes informed consent impossible.

As a Dom, and therefore being accountable for what happens, I don't drink and play. My choice, my call, my rules....

We haven’t had a meet for such a long time now but I always have a couple of drinks before hand to settle the nerves plus it makes me horny for some reason

It’s not a need......just more of a relaxed night all round

I’m not an alcoholic as it’s rare I drink but I do get typsy pretty quickly

if people are put off by that then so be it

Different for guys I suppose as can spoil the performance

Each to their own I suppose

I like a few drinks, but not too much that we can't fully enjoy the sex.

I don't like d*unk sex that I can't remember the next day, and I don't like having a hangover after a night of sex, as I feel depressed the next day.

I never drink on a meet. I dont need my nerves calming and i dont need anything to enhance the fun.

I do drink occasionally at home or when out for a meal as long as im not driving.

Everyones different.

I think people read my original post and guessed that we drink that on meets, we don't, I said we will have that on a night out together but I wanted to know the etiquite of drinking when on meets that was all, we've had 2 arranged meets and had a couple of drinks to calm the nerves especially for myself as I think there's more pressure on the males to perform lol

I don’t have sex in public or flash.

From my perspective, I’ve changed my view on this from seeing the extremes. I’m talking women so intoxicated that they are staggering, slurring and barely able to walk. For this reason i point blank refuse to go back to one of the most popular Uk clubs that has a shocking history of this. One guy told me recently it was his favourite club, but he did have to have a word with one guy recently whose partner was completely wankered and being taken on by multiple guys. Sorry but at that stage is it a gang bang or another word beginning with r. And unfortunately this is not uncommon.

This is why I think you will have adverse reactions.

I don’t think anyone’s attacked you for liking a drink on a meet, just many have said they don’t. That’s probably not representative of the site as a whole.

How bad are your nerves if you need 6 pints to calm them?

Drink whatever you’re comfortable with, but if I had that much at the very least I’d be off for a piss every 10 minutes once I’d broken the golden seal.

Maybe it’s an advantage if she likes watersports

No one's saying you have a drink problem. . Just that to most people 6-8 pints is a lot and feeling you would like to drink that much at a social with a stranger is a bit eyebrow raising.

As I say, someone who felt the need to drink that much at a social would certainly put us off and I think most people would be the same.

I don't need drink to enjoy a meet but I like when I've had a few drinks and I'm a lot more chatty. Same as any night out. We have also had meets after we have been out all night which have actually been the best meets. If I had to choose I would pick after we all had a good drink x

Fair enough but most people wouldn't and we can only judge people we don't know on the basis of likelihood.

Ah , I know the club you mean now , and to be fair that’s a reasonable analysis . We’ve seen the same there , and younger women in floods of tears due to what they and their partner have been doing when the effects of the drink wears off .

I was talking about clubs that don’t open till later in the evening .

It’s sadly so common and a reflection of the seedy and sad side of swinging . The necessity to get wrecked in order to have fun is not a pleasant sight or experience .

Just go to a club at midnight and ask them !

It really is so common to see this behaviour and we find it disgraceful .

It’s for this reason that the op is getting a bit of grief I think .

I’m teatotal , but my wife has the odd glass of wine now and again . Any amount of alcohol that changes your thinking is unacceptable in my book , so a few to calm the nerves is ok . Any more a big no no if you’re going to play .

Anyone having sex with a woman paralytically d*unk is almost certainly committing r ape. "

Very true , but rarely gets to the point of pursuing such charges .

One could quite reasonably suggest that the woman who voluntarily gets pissed in a swingers club is leaving herself open to such potential .

It doesn’t make it acceptable at all , but why be in a club and get pissed ? Crazy behaviour

"Wow I must admit I didn't think that people would be so quick to judge someone they never met and know nothing about because once in a while they let there hair down on a night out with their wife and drink 6 or 8 pints of beer in a day, especially on a site like this where sex in public places, cheating wives and husbands, taking pics of flashing in public and adding them to profiles etc etc seem to ok not to judge on, or have I logged into mum's.net by accident

I would never and have never judged anyone on this site despite how depraved their antics may seem to me because it's their life to choose to do as they wish

Midnight you say? Oh I think you’re being generous. In the last twelve months try Sunday afternoon falling down d*unk and been carried around by male partner. And 9pm arrival into club to be accosted (both of us) by some woman with partner in tow.

I had no idea this sort of thing went on, we are complelety new to this and haven't done a club as of yet but looking forward to it, hopefully we don't see scenes like this because it would just be upsetting and why drink to the point your not in control or can't remember, is there any point in going to the club in the first place with that intention

But to lighten the mood a little - if I have a great meet I want to be able to remember the fantastic sex. I’ve had blurred memories on occasion and wished I could remember it better to relive in private later.

"Who’s judging?

Just a few comments like anyone who has 6 pints possibly has a drink problem, god I'm far from having a drink problem haha, also about my responsibility regarding driving while druunk and that drink will affect my performance, I'm.bot bothered I just found it a little odd to be judged on this site, I didn't expect it haha

I could drink 6 pub measure JD and Cokes and still have my wits about me.

Fair enough but most people wouldn't and we can only judge people we don't know on the basis of likelihood. "

The likelihood of what?

If I’m meeting someone and I’m hoping it will lead to sex, then I don’t want to be d*unk. I want to be on the top of my game. So I’ll have a drink to be sociable but that’s all

I don't drink, despite running a pub, but have no objection or problem to anyone having a drink on a social, at the end of the day a social should be a relaxed affair

That this is someone with an drink issue. Someone needing 6-8 pints to get through a social meet with a stranger is prima facie evidence of that. (which of course doesn't mean that everyone who drinks that much has an issue).

How many would admit to having a drink prior to a meet? So the 4 drinks you see consumed may in fact be 6 or 8. Some people have the need to add steel much earlier than others. If we went on a social and the others were tipsy when we got there it would be a goodbye from us.

In general I think most people would be aware that if you are meeting someone for the first time and want to impress them drinking six to eight pints is not a good move.

Hence if you do drink that amount in that situation there is a good chance you need to.

Would anyone on here not be distinctively unimpressed if they met a bloke for a social and he Downed that amount?

Actually I do remember having a few pints on a social with a local woman in the early FAB day. Dutch courage I guess. She stayed sober as was driving. Think she enjoyed me slowly showing the effects of cider. Luckily she found me cheeky and very entertaining. Resulting in a lovely end to the evening over the bonet of her car by the canal. I would say just dont drink to excess.

I'd be comatose...

Maybe I mix in innocent circles, but I can't imagine a woman getting the hots for a bloke who drinks pint after pint... "

6-8 pints certainly isn't attractive, but nor is an entire bottle of wine.

Even if the dude wasn't absolutely shitfaced after that amount, he'd certainly be stinking of beer and burping a lot.

"Morning fabbers, I was curious as to how many of you have a drink when having a meet, social or otherwise ?

I've seen on a few profiles and spoke to a couple of people who don't like drinking when having a meet, for us we would need to have at least a couple to let the nerves go and make ourselves more comfortable, plus we don't get out much because of young kids so when we do we like to make the most of it haha

I'm not talking slurred speach and falling over, Mrs might have 3 or 4 glasses of wine say and I'd maybe have 6-8 pints on a night out, sounds a lot but not for me tbh I would just be merry

Would this put you off a couple even if they where good company and attractive ? "

I am afraid it would, you might think you are good company after 6 or 8 pints, years working behind bars taught me you aren't. That's before we even get into the consent issues.

I understand and sympathise with having limited time to play- its why we can only really make daytime parties but if I want a night out with bevvies I go out with friends, if I want filthy sex I want all involved to be sober

I could drink 6 pub measure JD and Cokes and still have my wits about me. "

the Jds watered down must be

Brighton - even Hove!

A coffee or a beer would be fine. Glass of wine. Not to excess, that’s rude and ignorant and I’m not.

We are the same, seems people didn't read my op properly, what we drink on a night out as a couple will be different to what we drink on a meet, I was just asking if people do have a drink when going on a social or if it's considered the wrong thing to do, depends on who your meeting as well I suppose

My meets from here have been more like fun dates and we have always had one or two bottles of wine. That’s a normal night out for me. I don’t meet just for sex so never done that. I only have a ‘date’ type experience. Lots of food, drink, music and maybe sex, depending on the mood.

We enjoy a drink, a laugh and a giggle on our meets. We never meet with any expectations of sex nor do we feel obliged to jump in the sack with the people we meet. The aim is to have fun, get to know each other and see what happens xxx

you said social or otherwise but I think you can tell from peoples reaction that sex and too much alcohol don't mix really but their will always be exceptions to every rule

Manchester (she/her)

In general terms, I drink little or nothing on meets to keep my wits about me. I don't judge those who drink, but I am aware of signs of intoxication, and I don't want to shag anyone who's not fully aware of what they're doing.

I sometimes come across profiles that say they won't meet people who don't drink because they only want to meet people who can have fun. I find this troubling too. I rarely drink (medication interaction: I can, but it's often not worth it). Each to their own etc, but I'm perfectly capable of having fun stone cold sober?

I used to see someone a couple of years ago that didn’t really drink. We were on different wavelengths when we went out. I prefer someone that likes a few drinks, a complete non drinker would not be suited to me. I don’t drink tea or coffee either so coffee shop meets I’ve never really understood.
