I was on my 3rd Nile cruise last month with my bessie mate and I've just booked to do it again for New Year on my own as she's inconsiderately buggering off to the Caribbean with her husband - can't rely on folk at all!
Next trip of lifetime - should have been there now but had to cancel cos of arthritic hip - trek to Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia xx |

Ranching in the Rocky Mountains for a week and then off to Argentina and Chile to the Attecama dessert, to see the night sky at the observatory, then Patagonia, and Penguins! |

Oh and its not really a holiday, but I'd like to do some kind of nursing/medical work in Africa or in orphanages in China. Love to be able to offer some kind of help in this way. Be nice to be able to give something back rather than the materialistic ways of the western world. Not sure how I'd achieve this/leaving my kids/job etc but its a nice idea, if I was mentally strong enough to hack it of course. |

For me it would have to be an American tour of Route 66 in a Muscle car or hot rod and do some of the route on a Harley and take a slow tour for about 6 months to a year |

I get bored on long plane journeys so I would say a round the world trip with multiple stop offs
Say Manchester - Cairo - Mombasa - Cape Town - Mauritius - Maldives - Dubai - Sri Lanka - Vietnam - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Tokyo - Mount Fuji - Manila - Brisbane - Sydney - New Zealand - Fiji / Tahiti - Hawaii - Vancouver - San Francisco - L.A. - Costa Rica - Barbados - Rio - Buenos Aires - Peru / Inca territory - Cayman Islands - Miami - New York - Toronto - Reykjavik - Manchester
Well that'd get the air miles up wouldn't it ? |

Inca Trail is awesome - did it for charideeeee in 2009 - walked it over 4 days, 27 strangers sharing tents and trials, porters with huge backpacks overtaking us on the trail and cheering sadsack Brits into camp, cried like a baby when we saw Machu Pichu from the Sun Gate (all 27 men and women), tried guinea pig in Cusco hotel, looking up at a sky so uncontaminated by light pollution it was like a piece of black velvet strewn with a million diamonds - fuck me, I reckon I'm cumming pmsl - but seriously - fucking amazing, never to be forgotten, pictures on request... |

If you're not diving or surfing/windsurfing/kite surfing, the Maldives is pretty dull.
If on the other hand that's what you are going for it's awesome |

Have had the pleasure in my (Dave) time to see a few amazing sights (Grand Canyon, the aussie penguins before they built the grandstands over the nesting grounds, Rio) and whilst hope one day to take Sarah to see same sights ... and more (many have been mentioned) if only one choice left then ...
would have to be a week or two on a south pacific atoll |

I'd love to cruise up the west coast of Alaska and see the glaciers up there. Seen several in Norway (a place i just love to bits) but the Alaska thing would probably be a once in a lifetime thing. |

That is on my 'to do' list as is Oradour Sur Glane in Southern France.
Have been to Sachsenhausen just outside Berlin. That was 'just' a camp for political prisoners and undesirables like gays - and even that had a massive impact on me ! |
