What do you think about copy and paste messages?
Most women and couples don't reply so I understand why some people do copy and paste messages- why bother making a new message for it to be ignored?

Doing the main body of an introduction message is ok ... adding bits to it to make it more personal is better ... stuff they’ve taken notice of from the profile or pics is good

A basic copy and paste message can be edited to personalise it to the recipient, why retype the same basic details every time? Things such as I am single, can accommodate etc. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Well imagine you put a lot of time and effort into a lovely message - only to either get ignored or sent a rude or abusive comment? Would you keep making that much effort over and over again? Or would you eventually be put off? |

I completely understand why some would, but I do like to get a more individual response, especially if it shows that my profile has been read.
At least then I know the person messsges me knows what I am looking for. As others have said maybe an edited standard message might be a solution x |

I think this is mainly for the newbie guys on here. If the reciproent was interwsted in the person regardless of the countless messages they got. Then they would reply first time. If not then they clearly arent for you and should move on. Better than wasting eachothers time |

There and to the left a bit |
There you go generalising again with your use of the word "most" when "some" would have been better and more accurate
I could honestly never copy and paste a message - I think it shows laziness, lack of imagination, and says a lot about the person sending it if they're resorting to that - it suggests a scattergun, desperate approach where sending a message, any message to any number of people will do - rather than taking the time to compose something personal and tailored to the recipients profile.
Sure use a similar structure and approach each time, but it hardly takes that long to sit down and write a decent message introducing yourself on a personal basis, time well spent if you're genuinely interested in someone.
Most of the copy/paste messages I've seen are so obviously copy/pasted too and are just not appealing as a result.
It could also be said that if the sender is finding tailored messages aren't getting responses, perhaps it's their message (and profile) writing skills that need looking at and a copy/paste message won't make a blind bit of difference. |

'Most' women and couples don't reply, according to forum posts and messages I've received.
'Some' of the copy/ paste messages are obviously copy and pasted.
I agree with you and everyone else that has said a bit of personalisation is more appealing than just a generic c&p. |

Copied messages don't bother us. If someone has read our profile fully and sends a message we try to always reply even if it takes a few days or is a short sweet 'no thank-you.'
If it has been personalised however, it's more likely to start a conversation as we are always more inclined to take a chat further if we can see from what you've sent that you can read, have taken in board what you have read and have manners. ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

I am never sure how anyone would know they were copy and paste unless they called you by a different profile name...but we don't have a issue with it , probably because we copy and paste a reply

Weirdly enough, no-one ever uses the name on my profile when they mail me.
Some say 'you look like a lovely couple' which is always nice.
I hope it's a personalised c&p reply. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

When they send you the exact same message, a week later, and the week after that, and the week after that too.
I've even had the same message & pics sent to me, 6 times from 4 different profiles (obviously the same bloke on the profiles) ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I have been known to do the same. Especially when the message starts with ‘Hi guys’ like the one I got the other day. That is kind of a giveaway ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I say bring on the copy and paste. We like pragmatic people!
In fact, the more flowery and individual the message, we have come to associate with those that want to talk forever. We havent got time for dozens of messages before we meet. Lets meet up, decide whether or not we like each other and go from there. |

"'Most' women and couples don't reply, according to forum posts and messages I've received. "
And the forums and individual messages are hardly a great indication - as we all know forum users are but a small percentage of the overall site - plus the fact that people have a tendency to post the negatives, rather than the positives of getting a reply, somewhat skews perceptions
"'Some' of the copy/ paste messages are obviously copy and pasted."
As I said most "that I have seen" are obviously copy/pasted and you can easily spot it by the fact they've not been amended to remove other users names, or are very generic and make no reference to the profile they're writing to etc. and a heap of other things besides.
Either way the other points I made stand though

We don't mind them as long as they remember to change the names.
It's difficult enough for people without having to write original fascinating messages all the time.
I do smile a bit though when people say they don't answer copy and paste messages but send the same "no thanks" message every time |

Very much so this. When I had a single profile you’ve got to appreciate us blokes are pretty much up against it really. Therefore individual scripted messages unless you had the time or you really liked the profile would take forever. The receiver would still get an individual message but as said the body of text ie bit about yourself can be generic. Mr L. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

When the wife had her own profile on here as we as our couples one she had a message of a guy a minutes later we had the same message sent to our couples profile. We were at some swinger friends house and funny enough they had the same message. So the person must of just coped pasted the same message to local couples and females |

I don't mind if they personalise it a wee bit and add a bit about why they chose to write to me or something.
I've had a few approaching me as a couple, at least change that bit! |

I might change my post to .....I am never sure how anyone would know if they were copy and paste if they were sat in their own house all by themselves reading mails and it was the only mail they had received from the person ...but we don't have a issue with it , probably because we copy and paste a reply back to mails ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I've had some messages that were a direct copy of their profile pasted into a message.
I reckon that could be because they don't realise there's stealth mode on looking at profiles. So they assume people never read their profile and just don't reply to the message. |

We had this the other day.
Same paragraph sent three weeks in a row! Think the sender forgot you can see all the previous messages and that they were exactly the same
What a Rodney!
